@bdguan Does it matter who is first to innovate if China is the one to execute? America needs to compete in the manufacturing industry for innovations to hold real value.
Rapid prototyped an autonomous maritime system at the @albacoreinc hackathon with Purdue National Defense Society:
- CV-enabled quadcopter for target detection
- Mesh network for real-time data sharing
- Autonomous surface vehicles executing cooperative interception
Full hardware demo in just one weekend.
I chose an aluminum Nukeproof Scout frame with a 12 speed SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain for long Iowa climbs. Tubeless Eliminator tires and a 120 mm RockShox Gold 35 fork work great for control on aggressive, hard packed trails. The rest of the build prioritized cheap, light parts.
Check out this hardtail frame-up build I did with @luke_eckman a while back. The goal was a solid trail bike that was cheap, light, and fit to my riding style. It was hung from my basement rafters and built with plenty of improvised tools to cut costs.
