We see a shakeup in the Div. 3 girls lacrosse power rankings rankings, as Foxboro (@CoachKFoxGlax) now leads all schools with a rating of 6.7739. Medfield (@MedGlax) is now second at 6.3959.
This is perfect. Three total body workouts a week followed by three relatively intense conditioning sessions will change your life. You don’t need to obsessively exercise two hours every day.
Do you really want to help your teams conditioning? Do 3-4 short sprints early in practice( ideally timed). For hockey go goal to blue, basketball, end line to half court. Raise the ceiling, not the floor. Trust me,you’ll get plenty of low intensity in practice. @pntrack
@mboyle1959@pntrack Simple and effective. We implemented this 2-3x a week last spring with the girls lacrosse team I help coach. Fastest team we have had, no time lost due to soft tissue injuries and a final 4 appearance. This year we are looking to get timers.
Group exercise classes (Peloton, Soul cycle, orange theory) tend to have the everyday person train too hard.
Why? People judge the value of the workout based on their effort. Sweat and work hard= good workout
Most training should be pretty comfortable, but easy doesn't sell.
I think this is important if you work with kids. Let practice be the primary filler for the endurance bucket. Prioritize speed and power as that is the “underfilled bucket”.
Spring high school sport coaches- the dumbest thing you can do is run sprints to “get in shape”. Sprints are to get fast and the volume of general running is already drastically increased. In week 1, less is more unless your goal is getting kids hurt. Practice IS conditioning.
A great opportunity to develop speed 🏃♀️ agility and strength 💪 🏋️♀️! Options for both in and out-of-season athletes! See flyer below for details! ⬇️ #wintheoffseason@ColinMcCullo@DrewCurran8
Don’t you need to condition your athletes?
Yes, but not too much.
Athlete A = max speed 20mph; 4th quarter has 80% left
80% of 20mph = 16mph
Athlete B = max speed 17mph; 4th quarter has 90% left
90% of 17 mph = 15.3mph
Athlete A still wins
Speed is king 👑
@pntrack
A common mistake we see with inseason training is athletes thinking that a session isn’t productive if it’s not as long as an offseason one. Many great inseason approaches feature 20min sessions, often trained 3-4x/week. Stimulate multiple systems/qualities without much fatigue.
One reason people don’t start exercising is because they think they have to beat themselves up and spend hours in the gym to get results.
That’s not true!
Even just once or twice a week in the gym for 20-30 minutes at a time is a great place to start plus walking more.
We are so very proud of our girls! 👏🏼 Paige Curran (Player of the Year/Hock First Team) Meg Burke (Hock First Team) and Mya Waryas (Hock 2nd Team). Check out this great write up!

@mboyle1959 Just sent out emails today to all the parents of athletes in our summer session about this. Got a few replies “I was wondering why she wasn’t that sore.” Not the goal day 1.
Get after it this summer 💪 🏋️♀️ with @ColinMcCullo and the ADK Sports Performance Training Crew. If you’re not already signed up for a S&C program- here’s another great opportunity. Reach out to: [email protected] for questions/availability. #wintheoffseason
