Ofwat are utterly, utterly hopeless day 13,101.

In early 2024 it was revealed that @thameswater was defaulting on their legal commitments to invest in the environment by £1,134,000,000. A total of 105 projects would not be delivered.

At the time I asked, what's happened the money, where's it gone.

The @guardian got to the bottom of it all in Dec last year, Thames had diverted the money to help, amongst other things, pay executive bonuses.

During the secret internal meetings TW management had even discussed "The risk of a public and regulatory backlash if it emerged that cash set aside for work such as cutting river pollution had been spent elsewhere".

So they knew exactly what they were doing and when ahead and did it anyway.

And here we are over 12 months since it was first exposed and @Ofwat has finally woken up. Utter, utter, shambles.

No doubt this one will drag on for years and years just like the still ongoing investigating into the great sewage scandal.

For God's sake get rid of them...

"Thames Water plans to hike bosses’ pay in response to bonus caps." They were warned, I for one warned them.

@SouthWestWater's CEO didn't get a bonus last year but did accept a whopping £300,000 pay rise.

Banning bonuses is nothing but a sign of regulatory failure and ineffectual, cheap political posturing.
