Collate

The AI-for-Data platform: agents that automate data management & AI analytics business users can trust. Built on OpenMetadata, the open context platform for AI.

[Collate @CollateData]

A valid-looking answer and a reliable answer from AI are not the same thing. Only when your LLMs are grounded in trusted context can you get trusted answers.

Today @CollateData announces Collate 2.0, the AI for Data platform that provides agentic automation and orchestration to build enterprise context and put it to work.

It carries the context from the question to the answer, into recurring workflows, through data-access decisions, out to the agents your engineers build, and into governance of the AI itself. And it is built on OpenMetadata, the Open Context Layer for AI agents, to ensure that this remains open and interoperable with all your AI and data systems.

Select release highlights in Collate 2.0:

- Context Layer - Context Center + Memory + Persona-Based Context Curation + Context API/MCP Tooling
- Collate AI Analytics - Use natural language to build trusted analytics and governed dashboards with verifiable reasoning
- AI Studio - Customize pre-built Collate agents, or build your own custom agents, with a powerful UI-based builder
- Data Marketplace + Access Requests - Review Domains and Data Products for trusted data assets and quickly request access
- AI Governance Studio (Release Preview) - Register, govern, and audit every LLM, MCP server, and agent

Critical governance knowledge lived in individual "data historians," the people who knew where reports originated and why certain transformations existed.
When those people left, transferred, or retired, they took that knowledge with them.

"If context is your moat, it should be open source."

Suresh Srinivas (@suresh_m_s), Collate CEO, @BigData_LDN: proprietary context layers trap your AI advantage inside one vendor. Open context compounds.

7x fewer wrong answers. 75% fewer tokens. 4,000+ orgs including OpenAI, Yelp, Airbus.

A user survey at @RakutenGroup found that it took two to three months to determine whether a dataset was useful for a given problem. OpenMetadata is changing that for @RakutenGroup.

What happens when your AI agents understand the data, but not what it actually means?

For one company, even "order" meant different things across teams - and that ambiguity was enough to make reliable AI reasoning a challenge.

See how they approached building the shared context their agents needed to reason consistently across the business.

7.1x more accurate answers. 86% less compute.

Four ways to test a context layer before you trust it:

1. Does it make commitments?
2. Can you inspect the logic?
3. Does inference trace to a rule?
4. Who owns the output?

Every vendor in this category claims a "context layer." The word stopped meaning anything.

We had an independent ontology consultant audit ours against the formal definition, not the marketing one.

@JessicaTalisman's verdict: most vendor "ontologies" are a glossary with a hierarchy. Ours passed the harder test: typed relationships, logical axioms, and inference you can trace.

Every agent needs the same four things: what your data means, which definitions to trust, what's been decided, what it can see.

Rebuild those per agent, and you get a context swamp.
