@roddreher Agree on Dafoe- he is a force of nature. Just wish he would not have chosen to focus his genius into that role from "The Lighthouse". I could not watch him for awhile after that movie.
Rite-Aid would not fill my prescription for ivermectin in 2021. Pharmacist came out and very quietly told me where I could get it filled at an independent pharmacy just outside town. She was very upset and apologetic, said decision came from "corporate ". Glad Rite-Aid went bust later. Absolutely insane.
@annielcrawford From CS Lewis, "That Hideous Strength":
"There was a time...when there was more elbow room and contrasts weren't quite so sharp...Good is always getting better and bad is always getting worse: the possibilities of even apparent neutrality are always diminishing. "
@annielcrawford@CristobalArroz@geomydid Would affirming the Nicene Creed be a good boundary line for whether someone is an actual Christian or not? That is what I was told when I was converting to Catholicism.
@ElzarayHatter@PageauJonathan@vmbra_svmvs Completely agree. He and his brother have deepened my thinking immeasurably. Jonathan is brilliant and a very God centered man.
@Nixie_0489@C2Antiquity Im Catholic and I LOVE Fr. Stephen DeYoung! I even had a protestant friend of mine excitedly call to tell me he was on Tucker. Fr. Stephen is simply the best, and yes, a great coup for the Orthodox.
Is it like chosing to select a sturdy ship to take you across a wild bit of ocean? You can chose to try and swim across, but it's going to be alot more dangerous.
Thinking about "The Barque of Peter", which is often mentioned by Bishop Barron...yeah, I am a Catholic, but I love Orthodoxy too.
@BethanyMcGrew@PageauJonathan Nicely said!
"You shall know them by their fruits".. Fruits of the Spirit include: " love, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control. Against such things there is no law."
You are absolutely correct, in my opinon. Ray Harryhausen was an incredible story-teller and artist. Human hands and human imagination were very close to the product in these movies. Perhaps it's kind of like the difference between attending a live play and watching a movie on your phone.
@Supersonic_Red Thank you. I was born in 1960. Your description is accurate and it's a relief to see it in words. I wince when the term "boomers" is thrown my direction. I have older siblings in that category, and I had a very different life experience.
