I’ve filed an info request of my small district to find out about teacher qualifications (e.g. Orton Gillingham cert) and been told I’d need to pay them tens of thousands.

@mmoriarty61 @PamelaSnow2 They are given these talking points by the publishers (one size doesn't fit all, "all the tools in the toolbox"), because Concord says the same. Been told they have no obligation to actually teach a kid to read as long as they provide "access to the curriculum" (audiobooks).

We’ve been working on this for the last 6 years and while it seems like the tides are starting to turn a little, the affluent districts are the ones who continue to dig in and maintain the balanced literacy practices that negatively impact so many.
