@CynicalTrader82@FrancisBrennan Okay, and? Are my bills suddenly going to become more expensive because Arkansas screwed up?
As far as I’m concerned all the problems with data centers can be solved with an also-invest-in-the-grid act, since that’s how it’s working out for me. Like, this seems pretty manageable
@CynicalTrader82@FrancisBrennan I mean, from my perspective AI data centers represent an investment which is basically good provided you have a reasonable local government to negotiate them. Which maybe Arkansas doesn’t, but that doesn’t mean they’re inherently bad so much as that Arkansas mismanaged things.
@CynicalTrader82@FrancisBrennan Google just built a $2 billion AI data center, with 500MW of capacity, and the associated increase in utilization and efficiency is directly credited by my electricity company for why they can lower my rates.

@CynicalTrader82@FrancisBrennan Meanwhile, my personal electricity bills are being lowered by $100 annually due to AI data centers.

@misoginils0n It’s mostly that men are lonely and starved for affection, and the dommy mommy thing makes the woman have to give it visibly. You’ll find similar tropes in e.g. China for this reason.
This is really a side effect of men not being allowed to ask for normal displays of affection
@SaturnzShotas@Cuddly49905741@throwaway005992 Do you actually think Chinese tech giants have all a guy who’s like "Hey Jia-Li, can you get me 50TB of CSAM? We need it for the new open weight model" and then they ship it for free to attract foreign pedos? Like what do you think the development process looks like?
@crosstown_line Okay but until I stop routinely seeing articles like this I’m not relying on American public transportation. I’ve used safe, clean public transportation in Europe and Asia, but in America we don’t have that.

@JosephHBorn@GerardoCS@GrantSlatton Yes, but at this point we also need to start going even into more detail. How is the energy being generated? Combined cycle natural gas? Solar? Coal? Nuclear? What’s the loss from transporting the power? Are we more concerned about the amount of Wh consumed or emissions? Etc
@AdyG28@grok@grantbelden@d_vwatts@Waymo So can you not reverse out of a parking spot using a backup camera? Because that’s the example you chose, and I personally do it daily.
Whether VLAs (or DYNA 2 style WAMs) can become reliable enough with relatively little data and inference compute is the relevant question.
@catgirlprostate If I recall correctly the explanation is that, since god is omniscient, they can’t outsmart him. Thus, they can hyper-literally interpret the rules, since any way of doing so would still be following the rules as god intended.
@AdyG28@grok@grantbelden@d_vwatts@Waymo My car has a back up camera and I can use it to avoid hitting a post, no LiDAR required. So can a sufficiently advanced AI.
Most of the failures of these systems are in reasoning, not perception.
@curtis_yarvin Outsourcing is not remotely comparable to automation, since outsourcing kills knowledge and expertise. Want to find an injection molding expert in the midwest? They’ll have some gray hairs, and soon enough they’ll be retired or dead. Then you’ll have nobody to rebuild industry.
@Leon_Whitng@AkiraToriyama Is Qatar stopping you from using the standard terms for men and women? China? Mexico? Nigeria?
This is very clearly the influence of Western feminists exerting power through Western financial, legal, and media organizations. It’s the West doing this, even if it’s not all of it
@_renbai@fakeacc75581824@oliviscusAI Neuro is produced by Vedal (who’s a personality himself) and collaborates with other vtubers, communicates with chat, does song and dance routines, etc. Basically lots of interactions and added manual production effort goes in.
The technology itself might be comparable though.
@Landeur I mean, how far back are you turning the clock for this hypothetical? Because honestly it was pretty over after WWII.
Fundamentally the British have grown too soft to really fix things, so the most they can do is slow the decay. Not a unique situation, but man it’s fucking bleak
@rnovak1988@ArtemisConsort Most of these papers don’t have any math that couldn’t be done by copy/pasting some standard R commands. The fact they fuck even that up is rather incredible
@EtherFire4rs It wasn’t until the Industrial Revolution that the word nature was appropriated to mean, roughly, “the green stuff” and the old definition fell into disuse. In many ways a loss
@EtherFire4rs It’s worth pointing out that this is the etymology and original definition of the word nature.
Nature = nasci (birth). Nature is something that perpetuates itself, literally or figuratively through birth. Hence why sodomy and bestiality were classified as “crimes against nature”
@hayatomiki92391@Chriss_m@MASAYASOTURBO@saou0345 We usually call those people “tourists”, since they don’t rely belong in otaku culture, but adopted it superficially after the COVID lockdowns when it became more mainstream in the west. They’re pretty broadly despised here
@SAABorNothing@NotAnFSDTracker Meanwhile, in China they’re using FSD on sketchy mountain roads and think it’s the coolest thing ever. https://t.co/OLAgLvRVlu
