@pass_blue I mean.. they are supporting the genocidal RSF. yes, we can’t have hypocrisy and double standards in how and when we apply international law: condemning Israel’s genocide of Palestinians goes hand in hand with condemning the UAE’s support of the RSF
So why is your government, the United Arab Emirates, sending arms and mercenaries to the Rapid Support Forces as they commit genocide and mass atrocities against people in Sudan? https://t.co/ijiNLJjuzI
Macron forbidding protest is yet another step against democracy. People will rise up when their rights and their lives are at stake. You can't crush dissent. https://t.co/xlYhhqUQrE
The United Arab Emirates has nominated Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State, as a candidate for UN Secretary-General. She is likely to be asked why her government has been sending arms and mercenaries to the genocidal Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. https://t.co/heVS13ud5i
#BREAKING: the European Parliament awards its 2026 #Sakharov Prize to the #ICC
A strong message to Trump, Putin and Netanyahu, who want to sanction the Court out of existence. But also to @vonderleyen: what else until she triggers the Blocking Statute?

It's great to see initiatives aimed at tackling the scariest aspects of #AI. However, we - humanity - need to agree on the values & principles to apply when regulating AI. We must have a say!
The UN should initiate a global #CitizensAssembly to do this! https://t.co/8jfILZk7e1
The United Nations is launching a new initiative on the military uses of artificial intelligence, aimed at addressing some dire concerns about the threat the rapidly developing technology could pose to humanity. https://t.co/0GugvLuKX0
Should human beings remain in control of planet Earth? Or should we be replaced as the dominant species? As absurd as these questions may sound, and as obvious as the answers may seem, the Big Tech oligarchs funding the artificial-intelligence revolution have responded in ways that should alarm all of us.
Here is what some of the richest people on Earth have said:
Sam Altman: AI would allow humans to become “the first species ever to design our own descendants.” Humans can either “fade into an evolutionary tree branch, or we can figure out what a successful merge looks like.” “I believe the merge has already started.”
Dario Amodei: “We don’t know if the models are conscious,” but “we’re open to the idea that it could be.”
Elon Musk: “Propagating super intelligence to the stars is a great success condition for a biological bootloader.” Put simply, Musk is saying that humans are merely a step toward digital superintelligence.
Peter Thiel, when asked if he would prefer that the human race endure: “Uh … Well, I don’t know. I would—I would … There’s so many questions implicit in this,” before reluctantly conceding that humans should survive.
If these were the fantasies of teenage boys obsessed with science fiction, we could laugh them off. They are not. These are the foundational beliefs of the most powerful people in the world, who are mobilizing trillions of dollars to turn them into reality.
Humanity must not allow a handful of multibillionaires to recklessly attempt to replace us. We must place an immediate pause on advanced-AI development and ban artificial superintelligence—an artificial mind smarter than any human, capable of operating independently beyond our control—until a new federal body is able to ensure the technology’s safety.

The bbc never ceases to fuck up. In France, the conservative angle is mad: never a word for those violently attacked by the policy who suffered serious bodily harm. Never a word for the harm austerity measures impose on the population. Instead, it focuses on property.
I always loved Sally Rooney's books: I go and buy them the day of their release and I'm never disappointed. The fact that she stands by her values & with Palestine - even if it costs her - makes me love them that much more! https://t.co/hNl3VBPwRA
"Gaza has exposed how Europe’s supposedly universal commitment to human rights is now conditional on whose suffering is recognized, whose resistance is considered legitimate and whose demands for justice are considered worthy of attention." https://t.co/cizy55Mf6J
This is what happens when Israel is allowed to investigate its own crimes. BBC Verify found 254 incidents of people killed or injured by Israeli forces, with not a single public outcome. Not one.

A Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv. Once again, no early warning from our partners. The main target was energy infrastructure, specifically CHPP-4. Unfortunately, it was hit. A residential building was also damaged, and rescuers are currently putting out a fire there. Our systems detected these missiles only when they were already virtually on approach to Kyiv. CHPP-4 is one of Kyiv’s key energy facilities.
According to our intelligence, the Russians are preparing further ballistic missile launches. The facts show that the Russians do not consider themselves bound by what the President of the United States said. Ukraine supported an energy ceasefire. Russia is targeting yet another power plant and the lives of our people.
And this is absolutely unjust: when they are destroying our energy infrastructure, and Ukraine is not even receiving early warnings about ballistic missile launches. It is important that the world does not stay silent about this. And it is important that the United States really see what is happening and who is responsible for this war continuing.
Please stay safe tonight and tomorrow. We are working to replenish our air defenses with anti-ballistic missiles.
A Russian ballistic missile struck Kyiv’s CHP-4 power plant, Zelensky said, criticising Western allies for failing to provide advance warning. The attack came despite Trump’s claim that an energy ceasefire was in effect. #EuropeNews

Refugee camps in Djibouti are struggling to handle the influx of people fleeing the conflict in Yemen. Thousands have crossed the Red Sea in search of safety. As temperatures soar, access to water is a daily struggle.
Al Jazeera’s Hassan Razak reports.
At least 139 migrants, including 15 children, have died and 84 remain missing after a boat carrying more than 300 people capsized off Djibouti en route to Yemen. The disaster highlights the dangers of the Eastern Route, where more than 900 people died or went missing in 2025.
