The level needed for herd immunity depends on how contagious a virus is (among other things) so a more contagious virus means a higher vax% is needed for herd immunity. Omicron is more contagious.

@LibertyCdn @ShadyAshamalla Looking at how fewer vaccinated people are in hospital compared to unvaccinated people makes it pretty easy for any rational person to see vaccination works in protecting you. Seat belts don’t work 100% but no one is crying to have then removed are they? Use your brain!

Once in the ICU, you would have died without extreme, unpleasant and costly treatment (~$1B/month treating COVID among unvaccinated people in the US) that often has lifelong effects on you. A simple needle is a lot less painful!

Our bodies are full of "toxins" that, in the correct quantity are essential to life. Simplistic and usually wrongheaded terms like "authentic health" are usually terms invented by crackpots.

@MPDerekSloan Of course we avoided millions of infections because we took action. Many young people also died and it is looking like a big proportion of young people who get sick have long lasting effects. But lets ignore those facts to make a good conservative rant.

@aletheia93 @MPDerekSloan Some can't get vaccinated for medical reasons (allergy, immunocompromised). Able-bodied people who choose not to vax put them in needless danger. Unvaccinated people are breeders of new variants that may outsmart the vaccines and pull all of us back in the dark ages.

@LasradoNinaad @jflier Why? If the research is sound and is proven in competition to be the most valuable for society, society gets what they pay for regardless of the researcher's bank account. If the tax system were fair (lets fix hat for sure) they should pay more in taxes than the grant costs.

@CanuckManMD @jflier We have an imperfect system that incentives risk taking and innovation. Remove the reward for risk and we stop innovating. When was the last time you put your house up to make payroll for your people? Most business owners have at some point. Use progressive taxes to balance.
