@ArcadeRacing_0@eidos Heh, I was gonna pick it myself, but because I was only picking five (did I do this wrong? ๐ ), I picked Kawasaki Superbike Challenge instead - the inclusion of a framerate-boosting Turbo Mode in player settings gives it the edge for me :)
@ArcadeRacing_0 There's a number of surprisingly decent-to-good quality Mega Drive racers which utilise the "pseudo-3d-using-polygons" look - never seen this one tho! Obviously gonna have to give it a try sometime, looks fun :)
@ArcadeRacing_0 Yeah, the default Esperanza is super rough lol, really slow up the many inclines in Rage's courses too. I also think playing with analogue input instead of d-pad/buttons really helps - it still feels a little rough at times, but I find it becomes that much more controllable๐
@ArcadeRacing_0 Hmm, I wonder how difficult it'd be to 'fix' the background palette. It'd be really cool to see Neo Tokyo with its 'correct' palette of purples, greens and oranges!
And heh, those mundane-looking "Neo Tokyo" signs are pretty funnily juxtaposed against everything else lol.
@KaidoGenkai Heh, it's a tough one. Virtua Racing's absurdly difficult precisely because it *lacks* rubber banding, but Hotshot Racing is like the other extreme.
Personally? AI should NEVER pass the player if they're leading/driving well, but they should also keep the pressure on too.
New Song... But for someone else's game!
Midnight Challenge: Lucid Dreams prod. by Textilis
Made this as a small Collab Project for my friend's game! Midnight Challenge by @CometRobot. I gave them the song to use in their game, but it will make an appearance in my game as well as a hidden bonus unlockable! Go support their game! They unfortunately suffered a hard drive failure but don't worry the game is still safe!
Also New Car for my Game!!!
Meet the Lucky Cat - Aidol!
A class 3 sports coupe done in Team Popstar Livery! All of Lucky Cat's cars look cutesy and fun, it was a real pleasure to work on this one, it's nice to see what wild ideas you can come up with when not following any sort of template. I really like the bowtie-esque double spoiler in the back! Since this is a Class 3 this will be featured in the intro cutscene of my game, and is the car that represents Lucky Motors as a whole.

Gameplay of "Ridge Racer," an i-mode port of the homonymous arcade game. It was preserved this past September. For a 2005 keitai game, it's graphically impressive! It runs too fast in the DoJa SDK emulator, so it's likely easier to play on original hardware.
@KaidoGenkai@Textilismusic Hey I mean if it works, it works!๐ I find it helpful to keep multiple backups at various important milestones in case anything goes wrong lol
Thanks to all of ya for the support btw - it really means a lot ๐ฅฒ
Well folks, I'm afraid I must apologise - the last few weeks, my computer's been glitching out more and more, and this morning it seems I've had a catastrophic hard drive failure. Until I can get a new machine (hopefully the next week or two), development will be postponed.
@Textilismusic Don't worry! I've got just about everything important backed up on cloud services. Now the hassle is finding a reasonably-priced machine suitable for development lol. Luckily GM isn't hugely demanding so hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out ๐
(As an added note, a silver lining of this is that I've had quite a lot of time the last couple of days to really sink my teeth into Shadow Generations - man, haven't been this impressed since Mania and OG Gens)
@Textilismusic Looking good! Oddly the super-wide highway with 'greyer greys' is giving me slight OutRun 2 vibes lol. Are you thinking of including affine texture mapping too?
Okay, I'm really having a lot of fun with this.
Seriously I could play this all day.
I think I solved most of the force issues, also, the fact that the car naturally drifts away from the Apex of the corner due to centrifugal force was completely unintended. I wrote the code for it not to do that or that I was gonna manually do it, but its one of those happy accidents. I'm never gonna touch that part of the code again lol.
Also, the song in the background was an old abandoned project of mine, I scrapped it because I pretty much made a Ridge Racer song unintentionally lol.
@Textilismusic Oh man, this really looks like a blast to control! Beware though, the danger of 'getting distracted and running a bunch of laps' looms haha. Great work!
