It was absurd to listen to someone explaining the after effects of suicide. She decried of the fact that all of them as a family after seven years had not gotten over it. The trauma is unexplainable.

Yesterday, we held a joint planning meeting with the Kawempe Division administrators, and we discussed a number of things.
Among them was how CHCM could integrate eye health into the community outreaches organised by the Kawempe Division.

Today, as we marked #World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we spent time with carpenters at Bwaise Ku Mabuule, engaging them on eye health risks associated with their daily work and the importance of wearing eye shields, as sawdust is one of the foreign bodies that affect eyes

@ilo its high time we walk the talk about protection and safety for all the workers. A lot of efforts have been placed on the formal sector, neglecting the informal sector workers . And unfortunately, it's the girls and the women that bear the burden most.

@EvidenceAction CHCM will be glad to as well share how workplace based distribution of these glasses is very effective. We have not piloted this but lived it, done it and boldly say. It's one of the best approaches. Kindly reach out to us to share about it and also be part of the initiative.

The informal sector workers are one of the most hardworking people, busy who give their whole at work to make ends meet. This miss out on accessing health services. However, implementing interventions that target them at their workplaces proves very successful. @Seva_Foundation

Evidence suggests that 12% of commercial drivers do not have the minimum visual acuity required for driving while 6.8% had visual impairment (VA < 6/18 in the better eye),(Afric, 2011). Lets learn on how poor vision among drivers is dangerous to us all.
