@RestPoliticsUS@KattyKay_ 's Twitter banner (advertising her book) points us to KayAndShipman .com, but that domain has now been taken over by someone else, with potentially dodgy content. She should get the banner changed (... maybe write a new book about working with the Mooch...)
@CS3Count That Tuesday was bonkers busy. First time ever I couldn't get through the lights at Blackfriars in one cycle (i.e. it was red, went green and back red again before I got through). Gonna need another lane ;-).
@theJeremyVine @BallSherif @NMexpeditions As a fellow CS9 campaigner and C9 rider, I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos and wider campaigning for cycle safety for years. The videos were funny, slick and with a point. Twitter has got a lot worse though, so all good things must come to an end. Enjoy your "retirement".
@SVPhillimore@EyedWatch I don't know her current situation but she was in the news for *leaving* a care home a couple of years ago. Interesting article: https://t.co/oUml2BagFi
@DavidLewis1952@theJeremyVine@silvercab49 He was very much aware of what bully bussy was going to do and took avoiding action. Was half way down Regent Street getting out the way!
@jonpickles@DanNeidle@cmackinlay@ICAEW@CIOTNews@UKLabour Plenty of people think the “heritage assets” scheme is being abused by generationally rich land owners, with their “heritage” shooting estates etc. So maybe best not copy that.
@avochie @RoryStewartUK@GeordieKakamora Another possibility is “file-drawering”. Ie Got an outlier poll? Just stick it in a drawer and don’t publish it! Only the conventional wisdom polls get published and voila, herding! This also happens to an extent in science/medical research - lack publishing of “weird” results
@AndrewBrophy3@RoryStewartUK Mostly conscious. But if a polling company decides to up-weight, say, young black men is that because they “really believe” that that group will turn out more this time, or is a desire to find a more few more Trump votes for your poll so you’re not an outlier? Could even be both
@AndrewBrophy3@RoryStewartUK The herding is definitely there. Statistically you’d expect more variation in polls even if the “real” race was a static dead heat, due to unavoidable sampling error. Nate Silver (“who we interviewed on Leading” 😅) has done precise stats on this.
@RoryStewartUK@afneil Have you put the £100k down, Rory? There is sufficient liquidity on Betfair and Harris is only at 45%. That’s free money according to your conviction…
@JarretWithOneT@dcrainmakerblog Fair shouts - “only one chance to make a first impression”.
The segment cleanup was also half-baked, so perhaps a new trend at Strava. Mind you we used to complain about slow pace of new features!
Thanks for the good pod btw
@lrcaswell@jim_dickinson That, on average, students are getting a lot of help from their parents, wherever they are. Some students won’t be able to get help from their parents. These are ones that need to work during the degree, even if others don’t.
@geckobike @Jontafkasi @Boenau It has a 2022 copyright at the end so I’m not sure. One thing that is certain though… that *type* of victim blaming has been going on forever.
