I stand here once a year and think it’s where I’d want to be if I had a breakdown. It sits snugly between a second hand bookshop, a sweetshop, a good boozer and the sea. All it needs is a tired woman with a quilt, hot water bottle and a playlist that’s predominantly Kate Bush.
12 days to go until we gather at iconic Kingsley Hall for #RadicalHospitality
Here’s philosopher, psychologist and existential therapist @EmmyvanDeurzen on why you should be there ..

@ByYrSide This is devastating news. What a loss and so much love to Nicky’s son and all who loved her, and the T4H community .. so many lives changed and showing that simple being in community, belonging, deeply sharing & being heard matters so much and costs so little 💔😔
Hopeful conversation @_innercompass
Treat the person not the condition says @joannamoncrieff - we need a more personalised, less harmful approach

(1/2) It’s been a whirlwind leading up to and following the launch of my memoir about my experiences with the mental health industry—appearing in many places from CNN, to the BBC, to the Dark Horse Podcast. I’m especially excited to be doing this event with @joannamoncrieff , whose nuanced, original ideas about the way we think and talk about psychiatric drugs were very helpful for me as I “depsychiatrized” myself back in the early 2010s. I hope you’ll join us!

ICYMI: If you’re a member of our online mutual aid platform, Inner Compass Exchange, you’ll find our community is truly global, with members from across the planet. We’re pleased then that our founder, @LauraDelano, recently spoke with BBC World Service, which reaches hundreds of millions worldwide each week—because we know only too well the impact of the mental health industry extends far beyond us here in the US.
On the program, Laura discussed her experiences of being a psychiatric patient caught in a system that was worsening the very problems it aimed to treat, recognizing that while this is not the case for everybody, she is not unique in such experiences. She was followed by @MarkHoro, the-co-author of the Maudsley Deprescribing Guide, with presenter Julian Worricker noting how little help is available for tapering of psychiatric drugs.
We hope this program helps convey to those of you around the world who’ve had similar experiences to Laura, that you are far from alone. And if you’re here on X and not in the US (or the UK), let us know in the comments what the local picture is like for you, including unique challenges and positive developments.
Great @CNN interview @LauraDelano about her book Unshrunk 📖 & how she lost her late teens & 20s to being in & out of psych wards & programmes & on a raft of meds. She says she wishes there had been other choices available, of places and ways to recover
