I've known Tulsi for almost a decade. But before I ever met her, I heard her telling the truth about war on TV.

I was staying in a Red Roof Inn and taking a bath in the squat little tub. I'd left the news on and suddenly I heard a woman saying so much of what I knew to be true about Iraq -- things nobody else dared mention back then. She said that we had gone there in pursuit of a lie. That we had broken the world by sending millions of refugees to Europe and upsetting the balance of power across the Mideast. That we had killed hundreds of thousands of civilians, laid claim to billions of dollars that were not ours, and sacrificed a generation of our own young service members in the process.

Her duty was to them, she said. Her duty was to America. Not to the neocons. Nor to the corporations. There were just wars, she said. This was not one.

I remember climbing out of the bath and standing shivering, wrapped in a rough, cheap motel towel, just to see the name of this woman who was brave enough to tell the truth.

As providence would have it, my friend Kaj Larsen introduced me to Tulsi not a year later. Two warriors fighting for peace, you should know one another, he texted us one day out of the blue.

That was back before Tulsi ran for president, before she withstood the media onslaught for opposing escalation of that unnecessary war, but it was already clear she'd never sacrifice American security, even if it cost her a shot at the White House.

And just as she was brave enough to tell the truth about Iraq, she had the courage to tell the truth about the Democrats too. She called out their betrayals of our Constitution, even while so many others sat silently by, watching their own party be body-snatched by the neocons, the censors, and the corrupt corporations.

That's the thing about Tulsi. She tells you the truth. So when she says President Trump will keep America safe, I hope you hear her. Just as I hope you hear Bobby when he tells you he'll restore American health. And Elon when he tells you he'll make our government work.

After all, love them or loathe them, these are people who have chosen truth-telling over their own careers 100% of the time.

And that shouldn't be as rare in Washington as it is.

Donald Trump has surrounded himself with the precious few American leaders who still speak the truth at great personal cost.

Harris, meanwhile, has surrounded herself with the likes of Dick Cheney, whose lies killed hundreds of thousands of humans, including thousands of Americans, to make him a very rich man. The likes of John Negraponte, who ran merciless death squads in Honduras and lied to Congress about secretly selling arms to Iran. The likes of Tim Walz, who seems to lie so regularly that he, himself, can't remember where he said he was and when. The likes of CIA brass who lied to bury a laptop filled with evidence of presidential corruption months before an election. The likes of DNC puppeteers, who lied about the cognitive health of the man with the nuclear codes, systematically and emphatically, for well over a year.

Truth-tellers or liars. Those who sacrifice their careers to protect the Bill of Rights or those who quietly burn it to fuel their rise to power.

You can judge a person by the company they keep. You can judge a leader by the advisors that they meet.

There's a population of Scrub Jay's that live in this "dead zone"- data provided by people who study and tag them. It's at the highest point of the park. What types of pesticides will be used for this golf course? I appreciate your response. I just feel that messing with a natural area has never worked out for us. Plus, nobody wants a golf course there.
