Christmas is a time to choose humanity. I stand for peace in Palestine, Sudan, and Congo, and for the dignity and rights of immigrants everywhere. I oppose all forms of discrimination, including racism, antisemitism, hatred, and intolerance of any kind. I wish for an end to the occupation of Palestine so that all people there can live in freedom and dignity. White, Black, Brown, every life has equal value. May this season inspire compassion, justice, and solidarity with one another. Wishing peace to all this Christmas.

While McGarvey has sponsored the Breonna Taylor Act and written about immigration policy on his website, he has largely remained silent publicly on racial justice, immigration raids, and Palestine, including failing to cosponsor H.R. 3565 and H.R. 876 or use the term ‘genocide’ raising questions about his priorities.

Yesterday the Senate introduced the Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025, a bill forcing Americans with dual citizenship to choose one or risk losing their U.S. citizenship.

Patriotism is about love for your country, not forcing people to choose between identities. Millions of Americans with dual citizenship contribute, pay taxes, serve, and vote.

Even our Founders had global ties. Alexander Hamilton was born in the Caribbean. Thomas Paine held both American and French citizenship. Benjamin Franklin was granted honorary French citizenship.

Ending dual citizenship does not make anyone more patriotic. It punishes people for having global roots and weakens the values America was built on.

President Donald J. Trump’s attacks on all Somali people are unacceptable. Somali communities are hardworking, family oriented and strengthen our neighborhoods, schools, and businesses every day.

As a proud African born in Senegal, I went to high school in Atlanta with Somali classmates and I now live here in Louisville, Kentucky with Somali neighbors. I have also met Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and I know firsthand the strength and leadership that people from Somali backgrounds bring to this country.

I have seen families build businesses, raise children, and enrich the fabric of our communities across America. Our country is at its best when we embrace diversity and inclusion, not when leaders spread fear and division.

I will fight for policies that protect all communities and ensure every person is treated with dignity and respect.

Reports confirm that Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, is now on the list of prisoners expected to be released. He was detained simply for staying with his patients during the assault on Gaza and has spent months in Israeli custody without charge, with serious concerns about his health. His only “crime” was refusing to abandon the wounded. We demand his freedom and his safe return to his family.

Finally, Morgan McGarvey is talking about the immigration raids. I wonder why it took so long. But too bad you stayed silent for almost a year. You voted not to impeach Trump, voted to honor Kirk, and privately told Black leaders you regret your vote. Now it’s time to sponsor HR 3565 and HR 876, acknowledge that a genocide occurred, return AIPAC money, and recognize the state of Palestine.@TrackAIPAC
