Imagining a more connected Greensboro starts with Smart Investments. Let’s design a healthy, vibrant, economically resilient city that works for everyone.
People who travel by #bike, foot, and #transit shop more and spend more at local businesses. After @cityoftoronto extended its Bloor St bikeway, the average number of customers at Bloor merchants jumped up 42%. https://t.co/RsjE4cQZ6N
Expanding highways and building more roads actually makes traffic worse - Curbed. Great lesson as @greensborocity aims to stay ahead of the curve on traffic congestion. https://t.co/zL6YFuIYBj
If you’re passionate about making @greensborocity a resilient community, I recommend reading this article, taking the time to understand it and working hard to apply it. This is truly a great community thanks to the efforts of many. Keep it going! https://t.co/SZXmblQgRo
Paris Mayor @Anne_Hidalgo is championing “the quarter hour city,” where Parisians can get everything they need within 15 minutes. It means rethinking a LOT, even in a city like #Paris, including street design. Watch this via @ParisEnCommun@CarlosMorenoFr
@GboroPhysio@DowntownGSO@myfox8@greensborocity@DowntwnGreenway Glad you agree! Since Murrow Blvd was originally built as a highway, there’s already existing east/west bridge infrastructure at Gorrell St, Washington St and Summit Ave. The only remaining at-grade intersections are at Market, Friendly and Lindsay.
Would love to see @SyngentaUS relocate their headquarters to downtown Greensboro! I can think of a perfect location for adding job opportunities. @greensborocity@gsochamber
Last year, no children under 15 died in roadway crashes anywhere in the country of Norway, which has a population of about 5.3 million.
In the U.S., traffic collisions are the leading cause of death for children under 15.

You don’t always need years of construction, billions of dollars & a deep tunnel to liberate public transit from the congestion created by cars. #Toronto banned cars from King Street & created a transit corridor virtually overnight. Video by @brent_bellamy
Thouroughly enjoyed listening to @henrygcisneros in @greensborocity today. Looking forward to continuing the effort to bring BRT to Greensboro. Who wants to join the effort?!?
“The suburban experiment will prove to be the greatest misallocation of resources in the history of the world.” Me: The second greatest will be the disproportionate resources devoted to the automobile. @SmartGrowthUSA @BethOsborneTA @Kaid_in_DC@kevin_degood@T4America
WATCH: This is quite possibly the most comprehensive interview I’ve ever done on urban transportation & mobility. Filmed in Vienna for an upcoming Paris-based documentary. Watch it, quote it, & please spread it around. https://t.co/p1YrQeEhen
Please @greensborocity let’s get on board with the transportation revolution. I hope we can stop taking pride in being the best city for cars and start taking pride in greener, more equitable modes of mobility. Walkable, bikeable, transit oriented. @VaughanNancy@JustinOutling
Transportation was the focus at tonight’s NC Go! event. Mayor McFarlane told the crowd:”We have to get people on board with a transportation network that doesn’t include every person having their own car. Now is the time for visionary leadership. Now is the time to take risks.”
Here’s RULE 84: NEVER ALLOW FRONT PARKING, in my new book, Walkable City Rules. I’m tweeting the whole book out May - August, one rule a day. Enjoy! Or go to: https://t.co/plsUP7l0HF
How can we encourage the use of #bikes as a mode of transportation if riders don't feel safe using them on our streets? How can we ensure our infrastructure supports alternate modes of transit? A successful transportation network could be the answer. https://t.co/lbV5UY4ehK
Imagine a morning commute that doesn’t just improve your physical health, but provides a few minutes of serenity and meditation before the stressful work day; thus improving mental health.
We already have the technology to build such cities. We just need the vision and the will.
Continuing to be a city with little to no traffic congestion means learning from those cities that have grown much quicker. Promoting multiple modes of transportation is the most successful strategy. As well as the best choice for equity and economic dev. https://t.co/LN0ijumFMZ
