Great read for Greensboro change makers. Mary-Ann Baldwin lays out a beautiful vision for Raleigh in 2040. Continuing to advocate for this type of future in @greensborocity. New year. New decade. Let’s make it happen. https://t.co/HzK8A2X1Sy
Thouroughly enjoyed listening to @henrygcisneros in @greensborocity today. Looking forward to continuing the effort to bring BRT to Greensboro. Who wants to join the effort?!?
Transportation was the focus at tonight’s NC Go! event. Mayor McFarlane told the crowd:”We have to get people on board with a transportation network that doesn’t include every person having their own car. Now is the time for visionary leadership. Now is the time to take risks.”
@RobbiePerkinsNC Transit Oriented Development (TOD) has become a buzz word in urban planning, but it’s core function is to align the public and private sectors on a development pattern which results in a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Want to learn more about the GSO TOD plan?
@bruce_katz@greensborocity I absolutely believe that the dense mixed use nodes need to come first. Once the nodes are established, would it be prudent to determine how the corridor will connect, and begin establishing the right of way for rapid transit?
The Transit Alliance of Piedmont, a non-profit in @greensborocity has taken a bottom up approach and proposed connecting these zones through a transit oriented development BRT system.
I thought @bruce_katz in @greensborocity was amazing! He provided great examples of places like Copenhagen who have transformed mobility towards sustainable modes, such as public transport and cycling. @VaughanNancy @JustinOutling what’d u think?!?
Very impressed with the @greensborocity planning department. Thanks for continuing to educate the community on ways to create a vibrant, healthy, equitable community. https://t.co/N4rXYWdmYf
The @greensborocity is so well positioned geographically between two rapidly growing markets (Raleigh & Charlotte). Understanding the power of Transit Oriented Development on livability and economic development is critical. https://t.co/Tw7kWeba0I
"Municipal governments are lowering speed limits, introducing car bans and car-free days, pedestrianizing streets and replacing car parks with bike parks." https://t.co/6fwaIYzhaK
It's not happening in the U.S. but it could be.
.@greensborocity ranking #12 for Most Suited For Millennial Livability by National Mortgage News. "millennials need to find some new cities to live that are both affordable and appealing...that strike the perfect balance between fun and affordability"

Seattle has invested heavily in public transit and safe facilities for people biking and walking. There's more to do, but it's making a difference: "As the city has grown in population, adding jobs and buildings, its car traffic has actually gone down. https://t.co/LKZ3DC3nXV
