GEO stands in solidarity with our comrades at @uaw_4811. Your actions in solidarity with Palestine are a testament to the possibility of building a global labor movement that pursues justice for all. Read our statement here: https://t.co/qlG9Uummn0
Consider supporting our friends at BUGWU who are now on week 11 of their strike! I find it truly inspiring that they’ve continued this fight for almost 3 months
Free speech is under attack at the University of California, where the administration has committed serious Unfair Labor Practices that threaten the fundamental rights of workers.
Add your name and sign the petition to urge UC President Drake to stop committing serious unfair labor practices and protect free speech!

@ChemCooper While the general endowment fund and UC retirement fund are decently transparent, this is much less true for Campus Endowments (at least at Berkeley) where investment info is locked up tight
What happened in UCLA last night was an insane escalation of the situation in which goons physically beat some students. The UC failed to protect it’s students and may use this as an excuse to crack down on protestors. The time is now, if the UC will not defend students, we will
Last night, students and workers protesting peacefully at UCLA for justice in Palestine were physically attacked by a group of 100+ counter protesters. UC’s failure to protect students and workers is an abdication of its responsibility. UAW 4811 members are mobilizing in response

These statements of support are necessary, but we must ask: are they enough? Are we not, as academics and workers, called on to do more? We must to grow a collective spine and stand up for the rights of students and for our rights to shape our universities!
UAW 4811 stands in solidarity with students and @SW_Columbia academic workers at Columbia where admin, along with politicians, have chosen to bring in heavily armed police instead of coming to an agreement. 48000 workers at UC are with you in the fight for justice in Palestine.

Just a little tip here. If you’re on the same side as the cops arresting and beating people for peaceably assembling, you’re not a civil rights supporter. Hope this helps, I know they don’t cover this shit in business school.
These arrests are antithetical to the mission of higher ed. Our institutions exist to foster robust exchanges of ideas & open dialogue in service of knowledge & understanding. Sometimes that includes open dissent. Peaceful campus protests should never be met w/ violence.
As the largest union of academic workers in the country, we stand in solidarity with students around the nation exercising their right to protest the ongoing war on Gaza by Israeli forces. 🧵 (1/5)
