The strikes this week were always avoidable.
All @GillianKeegan had to do was:
1️⃣ Publish the STRB report and its recommendations
2️⃣ Get back to the table and have meaningful discussions with us.
But we are still waiting... #DoYourJobGill#PayUp#SaveOurSchools
Teachers don't leave because it's hard. Teachers are some of the hardest working professionals I know. They leave because the amount of work no longer is comparable to pay, respect, support, and value that they deserve for the workload.
#Strikes are a result of educators’ belief that, in the current state and system, they cannot do enough for young people.
It’s not just about adults running the sector being paid enough; it’s about the sector that looks after children being funded enough.

Impostor syndrome: “I don't know what I'm doing. It's only a matter of time until everyone finds out."
Growth mindset: "I don't know what I'm doing yet. It's only a matter of time until I figure it out."
The highest form of self-confidence is believing in your ability to learn.
Terrific piece. So many things to consider. ‘Fear’ by teachers and others of speaking out is unacceptable, and necessarily takes this education debate into politics.
Self-knowledge matters so much because it helps us to get an accurate sense of what we need to be satisfied, which means we can make wiser choices, especially around love and work. Learn more about our tools for self-knowledge: https://t.co/D1NSczAQZJ
Finnish students spend 50 % less time in school than students in the US and yet they get 15 mins of recess every hour. Oh and that 50% less time actually gives teachers time to plan, collaborate and prep without spending their nights and weekends doing so.
If we had more emphasis on the science of learning and more emphasis on making schools safe, calm places where everyone was treated with dignity and taught to treat others similarly, then children would be cleverer, happier, and safer.
Education policy makers need to ask: How could our school system really address the trauma and disruption caused to student and teacher wellbeing?
Let us know of any ideas / existing initiatives
Differentiation is not just about academic needs, but also relational needs. Some students may need to vent, extra support, a hug for the little ones, or even encouragement to try harder. These are as important as academic needs. Education is relational after all.
