This is my assessment….
The NEU moved the Government: They would have not accepted the 6.5% from STRB report and would have gone with around 5% if it were not for the threat of further action next term.

We were heard! Feel so proud of the collective action of my fellow #teachers. It was so powerful to be a part of the #teacherstrikes and make this small step towards a better education for the young people of the UK.
The strikes this week were always avoidable.
All @GillianKeegan had to do was:
1️⃣ Publish the STRB report and its recommendations
2️⃣ Get back to the table and have meaningful discussions with us.
But we are still waiting... #DoYourJobGill#PayUp#SaveOurSchools
Those in #teaching don't want #strikes, we need them.
We are more aware than most of the damage the pandemic had on young people.
A system that does not support and celebrate teachers cannot do the same for young people.
#Strikes are a result of educators’ belief that, in the current state and system, they cannot do enough for young people.
It’s not just about adults running the sector being paid enough; it’s about the sector that looks after children being funded enough.
We hire teachers based on their strengths but then we manage them based on their weaknesses. This is a morale buster. Leaders, help them develop those strengths this new year and watch them excel.
The most important factor for student success in school is the classroom teacher. So, what is best for the kids, are teachers who are encouraged, supported, and appreciated. Yes, Morale greatly impacts learning.
Whilst I’m on here, to everyone returning back to school tomorrow, best of luck, enjoy it, embrace it and remember knowledge is power, kindness is power. Take care of each another ♥️📚✏️
The problem with the #REOPENSCHOOLS campaign is that they never closed. That, plus the fact that we’re so close to beating this damn virus with a vaccine that we shouldn’t make every sacrifice meaningless by wasting every gain we’ve made.
@teachinglyfe @LGBTedUK Allow space for pupils to ask questions, which helps put you in a position of addressing misconceptions and demonstrating your support as an advocate of the community!

No child should return to school after the holidays too hungry to learn. Sign and share our letter to @GavinWilliamson urging him to work to #ENDCHILDFOODPOVERTY by extending #FSM over the holidays.

Too many teachers and education staff are feeling stressed and anxious. On #WorldMentalHealthDay let them know they are not alone. The @EdSupportUK helpline counsellors are here to listen in confidence 24/7 on 08000 562561. Please share as you never know who might need help.
@KatStern4 Yes! I absolutely am... I was hoping you'd know it; I'd love to know how you think such research can be applied to day-to-day classroom practice? Off to absorb this paper now...
