Berlin, New Hampshire, where you can still buy cheap real estate.
If you can handle winter, love natural beauty, and especially if you work remotely, excellent opportunity awaits here.

BREAKING: Rochester General Hospital in New York hired 82 resident doctors.
80 are foreign workers on H-1B or J-1 visas.
Only 2 are Americans.
98% of the residency slots went to visa workers- mostly from countries with documented USMLE cheating.
Americans got 2 jobs.
@VerMemeIstan@shagbark_hick This is probably the most important rule for making decisions. What is the trend? The vector is more important than a thing’s current state.
NH will be the best state to live in by far in about 10 years. The gap will only widen after that.

It's looking like I may wind up eating my hat on all my skepticism of New Hampshire.
Running the numbers I truly cannot find any location in the USA that beats it (unless I'm willing to live somewhere with no trees, no water, no mild summers, or some combination thereof).
And for the home price point, tax burden, laws, access to amenities, and Catholic Parishes + schools, there are really maybe about 4 towns in NH that I keep finding myself thinking about time and time again.
Even Michigan doesn't quite hold a candle to it, though MI is much better than NY on many many things. MI's taxes are higher, gun laws are worse, and the fact that MI doesn't offset private schooling costs by ~$5k/yr/student makes it an expensive prospect if we are going to send our kids to Catholic school.
Done correctly, a move to NH could save us thousands every year, allow us full access to our Second Amendment rights, get us to a thriving Parish community with many regular weekday Masses and an affordable, actually-Catholic school -- all while keeping us in the Eastern Northwoods climate we vastly prefer. It's worth the elevated home price.
I think it's the Cadillac option for us; we'd get basically everything we want without being forced us to move out of the Northeast. All of the other low-tax, high-freedom options are either super far away, treeless, water-stressed, or sweltering-hot. Even somewhat comparable options (like high-elevation WV, northern WI, MI UP, etc) just don't come close to what NH is offering, period.
New Hampshire basically didn't participated in the trans-Atlantic African slave trade until 1980.
That is when the Office of Refugee Resettlement opened and Africans started getting human-trafficked here for profit...
Oh, and Americans were forced to pay for it.
@GoldenAspen1492 Removing the most presentable members of society from the general airport population by stuffing them in centurion and delta lounges has prevented the necessary social shaming of the proles.
The left should be able to openly discuss stealing from Americans and the right should be able to openly discuss killing them for it.
As long as the theft and executions are done legally then no laws will be broken.
This seems like a fair deal.
It remains a major asymmetry that communists can openly argue for mass enslavement, but patriots cannot advocate for self-defense.
Might be a week or more before @LPNH is back
