It's very easy to demand someone else give up part of their body and risk their health to save a life. But it's hypocritical when it's not demanded of all.

The the 14th had only been relevant to the Civil War, it wouldn't have been enacted as an Amendment. It would have been a law, decree, etc.

Out of all the things you could choose to dispute, this isn't the one.
