I was delighted to participate in the PhD graduation day ceremony and to present the doctoral graduates with their hard-earned diplomas. 96% of @UniMC PhD graduates find high level employment within one year of qualification. https://t.co/EFlbRK325c

Just started into John McCourt's excellent book, 'Consuming Joyce' and fascinated by his history of Joyce's reception (or non) in Ireland. Joyce does not need to be repatriated. McCourt has finally brought him home through his extensive research. @mccourtitaly#bloomsburyBooks
Grateful to Dermot Bolger for this article about Consuming Joyce 100 Years of Ulysses in Ireland in the Irish Independent. @UniMC@BloomsburyLit#Ulysses100 https://t.co/yjvHd5p9vG
“Dentistry is an American invention, a new science, somewhat like chiropody.”
An apparent quotation from Joyce (one that escaped Ellmann’s dragnet), which John Quinn passed on to Lady Gregory in a newsy letter. Joyce said it to Quinn when they met in Paris in July 1921.
👏👏👏just finished reading @ConsumingJoyce by @mccourtitaly Nuanced, balanced - a must-read for anyone with even the slightest interest in Joyce’s fortunes in Ireland. A brilliant book, which itself holds a mirror to Irish begrudgery, bigotry and opportunism. Read it, read Joyce
"Volevo sottolineare l'importanza degli studi umanistici e delle scienze sociali [...] discipline che costituiscono la base della nostra identità e del nostro modo di concepire il mondo"

GRAZIE
e buon lavoro a John McCourt!
