Stop asking people when they “believe” that an individual human life begins and start asking if they KNOW and are using the objective science to derive legitimate positions and determine valid public policies and laws.

.@jaketapper: When do you think life begins?
@GovernorBullock: “It’s not up to people like me to be making these decisions. I think that’s the greater point. It’s ‘what does an individual woman need to do with her body and with her health care?’” #CNNSOTU
A constitutional republic exists so that a majority cannot vote a class of human beings out of the human family.

This is not new.
The New Yorker is recycling what abortion advocates have sold for 50+ years: that a woman can be “almost pregnant.” It worked before.
That is why so many people today think pregnancy begins at implantation.
They are doing it again.

Pregnancy tests draw a misleading, somewhat arbitrary, binary between a state of being pregnant and not being pregnant. You can be kind of pregnant, a little bit pregnant, or almost pregnant, or maybe pregnant, and still test positive for pregnancy. Pregnancy tests, particularly at-home urine tests, capture a moment in time at which an embryo has implanted and is interfacing with the uterus in some way. “We define how we understand the beginning of pregnancy based on this snapshot, but such a freeze-frame contains limited information,” Apoorva Tadepalli writes. ACOG did it in 1965, and just like that, a woman was magically “almost pregnant” between fertilization and implantation.
Not science. A fraudulent redefinition so the industry could keep the word “contraception.”

Science is so hard for the left.
If HcG is found in a woman's urine (and the test is highly sensitive and specific), she's pregnant.
An EXPECTANT MOTHER.
You can't be a little bit pregnant.
Definitions that delay “pregnancy” until implantation (or beyond) do not change the fact that a new human being already exists.
There is no such thing as being almost pregnant.
A human embryo = a human being
In human sexual reproduction (in vivo), scientifically, a woman is “pregnant” and pregnancy begins when the new human being begins to exist.

Actually, EPF is believed to be the earliest possible marker of pregnancy.
PREGNANCY CAN BE CONFIRMED before implantation, 12 to 24 HOURS AFTER FERTILIZATION (when a human being begins to exist) by detecting a protein called “early pregnancy factor” or EPF in the mother’s serum (blood plasma), AND the detection of this protein indicates a viable human embryo/human being exists.

“Virginia’s Amendment 1 Is Extreme and Deceptive: Voter referendum would allow abortion up to birth, abolish parental consent, and more”
That’s title of my new National Review essay (linked at end of thread). Some key points:
1. Contrary to what sponsors of the amendment have claimed, Amendment 1 would do far more than write into the state constitution the broad protections for abortion that already exist in state statutes.
@McCormickProf It seems some people have finally conceded that birth does not change the nature or essence of an already existing human being—only to extend abortion’s radical, dehumanizing permission structure to born children, rather than apply fundamental life protections to the unborn.
Thank you to @SecRubio and @SecKennedy for restoring international American leadership on the side of life. This is a powerful step forward for women, children, and the dignity of every human life around the world.
