@TheBigKahane Nope. Congress has already given presidents the authority to impose certain sanctions without a new vote (search up the IEEPA). Biden exercised that authority when he sanctioned West Bank settlers in 2024 (Trump revoked that EO in 2025). Neither needed congressional approval.

2 things can be true:

1) Israel has agency in what actions they do or don’t take.

2) The US can elect a president that (quietly) shares AOC’s views on Israel, and Israel could have Yair Golan as PM and would still be subjected to US sanctions.

It’s a 2-way street.
