People had a very clear idea what they *wanted* this movie to be about and then couldn't handle that it was a story about the absurdity of war photography that specifically chose the American setting because Western society has become so desensitized to War in the Middle East.
Backrooms movie did lowkey make me envious of ppl who were locked in on Kanes YouTube videos for the last four years cuz seeing the ASYNC logo and date/time stamp segue into 4:3 found footage on the big screen with an almost packed audience must feel fucking insane for those guys
i love movies that are just overstuffed with ideas. like is it about how men refuse to change? or therapists using their patients to work through their own problems? or how our minds can change events retroactively to make us seem more justified?
