@VernonDelcampo@TrackingCantlay Today I thought was pretty encouraging, when he’s great he’s great off the tee and he has been so mediocre with that all year. Today his tee to green play was actually very good, putts just didn’t fall. Tough course out there, tough to break par when you lose 2 strokes putting
@TrackingCantlay@VernonDelcampo Still, if he putted today like he did the first 3 days he would have won the tournament. Missed a few from less than 10 feet after being automatic on them all week
@ryan_7283 @KylePorterCBS There’s always people who will believe that if something doesn’t happen after a certain period of time it just won’t (ie they believe Phil was too much of a choker) but most people assumed it was a matter of time
@ryan_7283 @KylePorterCBS It was a way bigger deal with Phil because he was winning a lot more otherwise and was a superstar personality. Xander and Cantlay are consistent top 10 players but they aren't thought of as superstars.
@BrendanPorath I think as North Americans we have to accept it is okay to have world class events in the middle of the night to truly cover the globe with the sport.
That being said, you'd want to bring those events to places that actually care about golf.
@SuirAdrian @ProGolfCritic@NoLayingUp@DataGolf It will have this problem. I don't think OWGR is necessarily the best answer for LIV, automatic berths into the majors based on LIV performance is. They just see the OWGR as an easier path as the majors still aren't very LIV-receptive.
@TEgan53186 @KylePorterCBS I mean there's no point in arguing with you if you discredit all LIV results. He was the best player in fields that included guys who were top 10 when they left as well as recent major winners. It's not unreasonable to think he improved in 2023 over 2022.
@TEgan53186 @KylePorterCBS He was ranked 35 when he left and had a better season than any LIV golfer, many of whom were ranked higher than him going in. Top 30 is not unreasonable.
@NoLayingUp@ProGolfCritic@DataGolf I think it's very hard for any variation of Data Golf to make accurate comparisons between the LIV and PGA Tours because they have such little overlap.
@KylePorterCBS I just have trouble believing DG rankings when it claims every player falls right off the map when they join LIV. Cam Smith was second in the LIV rankings last year, but still had a bad enough year to drop from a top 5 player to out of the rankings?
@TheShotgunStart@BrendanPorath@AndyTFE Cam Smith should be at least in the Stars category for carrying the Australian representation right now (and I don't think he's less popular than Collin even in the States)
