@Elizabe20507878 10Q1: Use affixes and roots to figure out unknown words: 60% of ENG words have Greek or Latin roots; it's a great way to help ELs connect ENG learning with their home language and engage in thinking about what they are learning. #tpseeed
@mrscagle_cagle 9Q1: I'd like for Ts to be intentional about teaching the language beyond the task: color-coded collaboration and syntax surgery are the two activities that wold be easy to implement and help Ss to apply the language in meaningful context. #tpseeed
@mrscagle_cagle Reread to analyze and infer: teachers tend to take over and explain the solutions to the problems rather then engage Ss to reread for evidences to make their inferences. #tpseeed
@lakrisawalker I can attest to that having language frames helps especially at the beginning of the language learning however it does take away from the natural flow of the conversation:)
@lakrisawalker YES! And to build on that I'd like to add the text referencing for Ts to specifically identify Partner A and B and time outlined for each partner to talk:)
@Elizabe20507878@JenniferGoodlow 2Q1: It made me think of my own cultural norms and and values how they may shape my perceptions of Ss and my teaching. #tpseeed
@JenniferGoodlow 2Q1: Research clearly indicates a strong correlation between teacher expectation and student achievement. When we have high expectations, we can help Ss to grow towards those expectations however with low expectations we limit the impact of our teaching to that low level.#tpseeed
