I had a parallel port zip drive back in the 90s, and I don't know how often I carried it back and forth in my backpack to a friend's house to transfer data. Always worked like a charm, and I just sold it a few years ago, after archiving the disks I still had.

@exQUIZitely I actually liked it, it was unexpected and special, and the way MI3 picked it up felt a bit too simple - Return to MI did it better.
Not everybody's cup of tea, just like the Thimbleweed Park ending - but I'd much rather have that than some decision by committee / focus group.

Jones in the Fast Lane (1991) by Sierra is, in a nutshell, a simple "game of life" simulation. Just a single screen and not particularly complex - but incredibly fun, addictive, and full of charm.

You guide Jones through his days, weeks, and months: working, studying, paying rent, buying pants and a TV, chilling on the weekends, getting some tasty burgers, and seeing where life takes you. The goals are wealth, happiness, education and career.

I played this one to dust back in the day. Could be played in single- or multiplayer mode (hot seat). Someone please make a modern version someday, it’s too good to be forgotten.

With SkyForce Reloaded being a pretty decent modern variant.

@exQUIZitely The Jedi Knight series were the only FPS games I played for real (except for Descent) and really liked, but somehow I skipped Dark Forces.
And the fact that they didn't add mid-level saves has put me off getting the remaster so far - my time is limited these days.

@exQUIZitely I wouldn't go quite that far, mid 2000s to mid 2020s is a significant difference, although obviously not as much as mid 1980s to mid 2000s. But the main difference was mid 2000s to mid 2010s - the last ten years have been mostly incremental changes, and not always for the better.
