Billie went vegan at 12. By 13, she and Finneas were uploading "Ocean Eyes" from his bedroom studio in Highland Park. Within months, signed. At 18, she swept Record, Album, Song, and Best New Artist at one Grammy ceremony. Second person ever. First woman. Youngest ever. She earned $53M that year alone.

Then the trajectory got absurd. Bond theme at 18, Oscar at 20 for "No Time to Die." Second Oscar at 22 for "What Was I Made For?" off the Barbie soundtrack. Youngest two-time Academy Award winner in history. Ten Grammys, three Song of the Year wins, tied with Finneas for the most ever.

Through every milestone, she refused to wear leather, fur, or any animal product in a single brand campaign. Co-chaired the 2021 Met Gala in Oscar de la Renta after telling the house she'd only wear it if they banned fur company-wide. They did, the same week. A fashion house restructured around an 18-year-old's vegan stipulation.

Nike followed. The Billie Air Jordan 1 KO and Air Jordan 15 were the first 100% vegan Jordans Nike had ever released. Two years later, a vegan Air Force 1 line, also a first. She testified on Capitol Hill in support of HR 4108 to put plant-based meals in public schools. PETA named her Person of the Year in 2021.

She turned every brand deal into a vegan negotiation. Ten years of contracts, same clause every time. The take trending in 2026 is the take she's been writing into deals since 2019.

If you’re over 40 or so: Think of what people told you when you were just starting out at age 18-23. Probably it was some variant of “Everyone’s poor when they’re just starting out, but keep at it - it’ll get better and you’ll get settled.”

Now imagine giving that speech to someone that age, but, barring major changes, it isn’t true - they’re going to be poor and proletarianized forever unless a lot of things do and don’t happen.

Insane how people can see a political candidate that spent his entire time among the people - taxi drivers, artists, senior citizens, minimum wage workers, bodega owners, halal cart operators, social media creators, club goers, marathon runners, religious leaders, community organization members, live sports attendees, literally any and every part and demographic of the city, all while answering every question with poise and purpose, and yet say that he is a bad guy who doesn’t care about the city.

My whole life I’ve been so disillusioned and disappointed by politics and politicians globally and witnessing this campaign has been a ray of hope and sunshine and a showcase of how campaigning should be and what’s possible if a politician really cares about the causes he’s fighting for and the people who he wants to lead. This campaign will inspire a new generation of politicians that will pave change and boost representation of ideas and values among the traditionally archaic political guard.
