Gap Year JUCO Arm!
@trevor_ollier
First time going through the lower half progressions
Started off with with putting him on the @CoreVeloBelt
Trying to help him ride out his back hip into foot strike, as well as keeping that front hip closed
Made some serious gains!
The PITCHING MECHANICS of PEACEFUL PROTESTORS.
This guy is getting a lot of attention lately and for good reasons.
He’s an anti-ICE so I’m guessing he relies on soft tissue work for recovery.
Let’s break down his mechanics
“Holds tension in the back leg”.
It’s not possible to hold tension in the back leg when toes are pointed forward
Tension can’t be held in extension, only rotation
Velo plateau?
Let me guess…
Your current program includes roll-ins, ten toes, lasso drills, pivot picks.
And…
You fly open and have to remind yourself to stay closed or counter rotate your shoulders.
Why you should contrast the connection links on The Core Velocity Belt.

Mid link: moves entire region
Bottom link: lower half ground engagement
4 MORE REASONS why....
"We ONLY train what happens BEFORE you land, NOT AFTER."
Flying open.
High elbows
Inverted w's
Late arms
Are fixed by how your back foot interacts with the ground.
"What happens after landing - Already happened."
"Take a look at my back knee... that's what you want to FEEL".
In this setup he's got The Core Velo Belt setup behind him at an angle to cheat the hips and FEEL them corkscrew.
The question most pitchers should be asking isn't "How can I increase velocity?"
The first question should be, "How much velocity am I leaking that I had no idea about?"

(🧵 1/2) Velocity Leak #1: Watch the back foot and how it unplugs from the ground. This creates a quad-dominant sequence of events that appears as flying open, pushing out and unable to separate, late arm...
Mechanics are like dominoes. Pivot picks don't fix dominoes
Here we have Diego Reilly-Bell, Freshman at Fordham working with the Core Velocity Belt @CoreVeloBelt to focus on lower half feels. As a pitcher, the first move is the most important and the CVB is a great way to work on setting yourself up to:
✅ Maintain a strong Trunk stack between the pelvis and the torso
✅ Use the slope to achieve a weight shift/drifting
✅ Keep a strong stable base as you begin your linear move
The Core Velocity Belt is another tool in our toolbox that we use at RPP to help athletes feel out their lower half’s. As the athlete starts to perform dry reps well, you can start to incorporate Medball Throws, Waterbags, and Plyo/Baseball Throws in the mix.

🌪 Want to increase arm speed? 🌪
Then focus on the hips, not the arm.
When the hips and pelvis are stable it gives your brain the green light that it's safe to move faster.
In other words - stiff in the middle equals athletic on the ends!
