As a copywriter with less than 7 months of paid experience…
It’s nice to be spoken about like this by the literal COPY CHIEF of a SIXTY MILLION DOLLAR financial publisher.
This is what happens when you make getting good your north star.
Your offer doesn't necessarily need to be THE BEST in the market. Though that certainly helps.
What I'd argue is more important is that it's DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT from all the other offers out there.
There’s really only one thing holding your prospect back
from buying.
And once you discover what that one thing is, the whole
sales and marketing game will forever change for your
business.
Of course the only issue is that if finding out WHAT
that one thing is was simple…
We’d all be millionaires by now.
But to help you discover what that ‘one thing’
might be…
You simply need to fill in the blanks of the following:
From the perspective of your prospect…
“I can’t do this because _______”.
That blank line is what you need to figure out.
See, everyone wants something in life.
It could be money, a good relationship, happiness, or
even just a nice hammock to lie in.
But the reason 95% of people don’t HAVE those things
they want…
Is because internally they have the belief that “I
can’t do this because _______”.
It might be lack of money… lack of a good job… lack
of confidence… lack of posts from which to hang your
hammock…
Whatever it is…
When you can find out what that one thing holding them
back IS…
And then REMOVE IT FOR THEM…
You’ll make a hammock-load more sales and money.
Simple.
But like I said, not easy.
Find out how they can get more girls without
confidence.
Find out how they can become financially free even if
they don’t have a good job.
Find out how they can hang a hammock without having to
put any posts in.
FIND OUT WHAT’S HOLDING THEM BACK FROM ACHIEVING
THEIR GOALS AND SELL THEM THAT SOLUTION.
Doing so will make this whole sales and marketing thing
so much smoother.
@poisondart14 100% Colin. People don't want to 'do' anything to change - they'd rather fix something external in order to get results and as long as you can be that person, you're golden.
Why your prospects aren’t buying
It ain’t because they don’t want your product.
They wouldn’t be your prospects if they didn’t
in some way WANT whatever outcome your products
can give them.
There's a very good chance someone on a
weight-loss coaches email list wants to lose
weight.
(if this isn’t true… you really need to work
on your prospect-gathering system)
So if they still want the outcome your products
solve…
Why aren’t they buying?
More often than not they’re not saying no to
your SOLUTION.
They’re simply saying no to your SALES PROCESS.
Your prospect doesn’t want to hop on a
“strategy” call because they know they’re
gonna get hard-pitched for an hour.
They don’t want to hop on your webinar because
they know there’s gonna be a big pitch at the
end where they’ll either have to decide asap or
miss out on whatever scarcity-based bonuses
you’re giving out.
It’s one of life’s greatest mysteries that
although we’re always buying stuff…
We HATE being sold to.
Most often finding success doesn’t come from
rewriting your sales copy for the 17th time…
But simply from rethinking how you present it.
The more you make the sales process safe, easy,
and human, the more you’ll see “I’ll think
about it” turn into “Where do I sign?”
Marketers are experts at making you believe you need their stuff.
You must have their super secret funnel… or their special 3-step email campaign… or their magical FB ad script.
Truthfully, that stuff might work for your business.
It also might not.
Every single business is different.
What will always work is treating your customer like a PERSON and not like a number on a screen.
The right mental distinction can change everything.
Living vs. Creating
Can't vs. Won't
A Problem vs. A Decision to Make
Shoulds vs. Musts
Owner vs. Victim
What stances are you living out of... and how is that affecting your life?
Are you committed to your goal?
Or simply “trying” to get there.
Those who are truly committed stop at nothing to reach it.
But those who “try” are satisfied to take a break when the going gets tough.
Which one are you?
Free little tip for freelancers:
Business owners don't want to micro-manage you.
The more you can show up as THE boss...
The more (higher-paying) work you'll find yourself doing.
