The Cornwall Beaver Project, bringing beavers back to Cornwall for the first time in 400 years. A partnership project of @Cwallwildlife & @Woodland_Valley.
Epic 7 hour coach trip from Truro to London for the #restorenaturenow march. Worth every minute. So good to be surrounded by 60,000 other people that give a monkey's.
Pine martens caught on camera playing on children's swingset in Ardnamurchan, Scotland. The owner of the video, Les Humphreys, tells us this is a nightly occurence in his garden.

In the small print of the latest Defra Environmental Land Management additions, new generous payments for farmers to establish ribbon wetlands along watercourses on their land. This is huge, because riparian buffers make the best nature corridors, as well as helping dramatically to reduce both flooding and drought - and even more so when they have beavers managing them instead of people. https://t.co/bezxpcGcct
This is one of several other fenced beaver sites in Cornwall. Higher up in a river catchment so a narrower valley floor than at Woodland Valley Farm. Unbelievably the beavers at this site have a taste for laurel and seek it out!! What is that about?🤔
Had a break from budget stuff to visit a 4ha #beaver enclosure in NE Cornwall yesterday. Mindbogglingly good wetland is being constructed. The original incised river channel is away to the right of this picture. Imagine what this will look and sound like in May/June!! 🦫
Ministers urged not to play culture wars over species reintroductions in England | Biodiversity | The Guardian. Brilliant article. https://t.co/Of46AbqYKk
Help Sacha help wildlife! @sachadench needs new legs following the tragic accident, and you can help. All contributions for prosthetic legs to assist her mobility will be matched so your donation big or small is worth double. Thank you! #TogetherWeFly https://t.co/a5BpzaQJjl
Beavers are a keystone species, which means they shape our landscapes, creating new habitats for other species, while also helping manage water flow and catchments. 🦫
Their work captures carbon, nutrient pollution and runoff.

We have been on tour! River Stour beavers in Kent then @kentwildlife's Ham Fen and the @kneppsafari beaver enclosure! Time to throw the wetland habitat management handbook in the recycling? 😁
Honoured to present the opening keynote at #beaverconference23. Much wisdom shared at this important meeting on the benefits of having these animals back in the landscape, including for Nature recovery. Risks need to be managed but upsides outweigh negatives, including for fish.
Secondary Nurture students are looking at Careers in farming and husbandry. We spent last Tuesday helping out at @CornwallBeaver Project at @Woodland_Valley Farm, with a focus on sustainable farming! #ThisIsAP#WaveMAT
Today is a historic day!
England's #beavers have finally received the European Protected Status they deserve.
We just want to say thank you to everyone who has made this possible.

"What you’ve seen in the space of the last week is Liz Truss’s govt basically trashing all the environmental commitments that were in the 2019 @Conservatives manifesto"

In low flows beavers maintain and increase pond levels by incessant application of mud to the inside of the dam. This pond level has never been higher. Water flows around the side of the dam, connecting the stream with it's floodplain and by default providing a free fish pass.
