Just watched Sheep Detectives, a movie that illustrates beautifully that sheep really are a special animal.
I’m proud to live in ‘Sheep Town’, and you’ll always be welcome back here in gorgeous North Yorkshire, Hugh.
Here is my own homage to this wonderful creature: 🐑❤️
A Sheep Rhyme from Sheep Town
In fields of green where daisies peek,
Lives a creature known as the sheep.
With woolly coats, they frolic and play,
Bleating merrily, come what may.
As springtime blooms, they're the first to show,
A fluffy sign that winter's let go.
Alas, as a cutlet, they'll meet their fate,
Here, though, is something to contemplate.
From sweaters warm to cosy socks,
They are worth so much more than lifeless chops.
Through rain or shine, they stand serene,
Enduring all, a steadfast scene.
Lessons aplenty from these friends,
Their patience and resilience never ends.
So let's admire their simple grace,
In every bleat, a lesson to embrace.
For in the life of the humble sheep,
There's wisdom profound, for us to keep.
On this day of August nine,
A star was born, her voice divine.
Whitney Houston, we remember you,
With songs that made our spirits renew.
From "I Will Always Love You", so pure and true,
To "Greatest Love of All', if only you had loved you.
"I Wanna Dance with Somebody," a song we loved so,
And you asked the question for us, "How Will I Know".
You showed us that "All at Once" hearts can heal,
"Saving All My Love" spoke of how love struck we can feel.
Whitney, your "One Moment in Time" still shines,
A legacy of love, crossing all lines.
Whitney's magic, pure and true,
We salute her spirit too.
Though you're gone, your music remains,
In every note, your spirit sustains.
So on this day, we celebrate your birth,
For you gave us songs of endless worth.

I’m so proud to see my book on display at Skipton Town Hall. 💜
Many of the rhymes inside were inspired by my love for Skipton, its wonderful people and the special sense of community we share.
Even better, 50% of the profits will go back into the town, making this book a little way of giving something back to a place that has given me so much. 🐑📖✨

After feeling a little stuck for ages, this week has brought two very welcome boosts!
I was on the Heart FM Breakfast Show taking part in their music quiz, and Skipton Town Hall are now stocking my book alongside my photo and a little blurb about me!
Sometimes, just when you need a lift, things begin to move again.
Feeling grateful, encouraged, and ready to keep creating!
I want to talk to you about dying.
It’s not my intention to leave you crying,
But to share with you places so kind,
They’ll take away your fears and ease your mind.
When my Mum and Dad were at the end of their days,
A hospice helped them—and me—in countless ways:
They provided a space, not clinical and bare,
But one filled with acceptance, love, and care.
Gardens where they could walk;
Private spaces where they could talk;
A comforting touch, a hand to hold;
An ear to listen to the life stories they told.
None of us can escape our end.
As we approach it, we may need a friend.
So, let’s join forces and do what we can,
To support these places that help us at the end of our life's span.

Happy Birthday today to me, the Cosmic Rhymer.
At 62, does this mean I’m now viewed as an old-timer?
I hope not, 'cause in life, I had a rocky start.
It took me years to heal my heart.
It was in my 30s that I conquered strife,
And claim my space as a warrior in life.
Nowadays, I cut myself some slack,
Allow myself to turn the clock back.
For, to me, life has just got going,
All my guns are blazing, my creativity’s flowing.
So join me, today, in my 30th birthday celebration.
May it be filled with cake, fizz, and elation!
We've waited years, we've dared to dream,
Now England's got a brilliant team.
Thomas Tuchel leads the charge,
Belief is growing, loud and large.
Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham too,
The hopes of England rest with you.
So sing "Wonderwall", hear the roar,
Like never, ever heard before.
Against Argentina, stand and fight—
It's coming home! Good luck tonight! 🏆⚽️🏴

On Saturday night, I’ll be on the sofa with my man,
Watching the footie, though I’m not a true fan.
At England’s last game I was captivated.
The game left me feeling elated.
Eleven brave men ready to battle with fate,
Illustrating all that is great,
About the human spirit, when faced with a task
That seems too much to ask.
Each player fought hard for the England team,
Doing their utmost to bring home a dream.
As our goals went in, I learned such a lot:
That sometimes life takes all we’ve got;
But if we move forward with faith in our heart,
We will set ourselves apart,
From those who let fear rule their life,
Who buckle at the sign of any strife.
So well done, lads, I salute you all,
And remember, tonight, keep your eye on the ball.

In the town of Quirkyville, the businesses delight,
With names that make you chuckle, from morning until night.
There's "A Cut Above", the hairdressers, where style's always grand,
They snip and clip with flair, the best in all the land.
Down by the seaside, "The Cod Father" reigns supreme,
With fish and chips so tasty, they're the stuff of dreams.
The shop next door, "Brewed Awakening", where coffee's strong and fine,
A morning cup from here will truly make you shine.
For sweet treats and pastries, try "Bake My Day" for sure,
Their cakes and cookies scrumptious, you'll be coming back for more.
"The Grill Sergeant" serves BBQ that's smoked just right,
With flavours bold and smoky, it's a carnivore's delight.
Need a book or two to read? "Once Upon a Spine" is great,
A book store full of stories that you simply can't negate.
And for a sparkling clean, it's "Grime and Punishment",
The best in town for washing, their service heaven-sent.
"Pet Pawlor" pampers pets with care so fine,
From fur to claw, they’re groomed so they simply shine.
So if you visit Quirkyville, explore these shops so grand,
With names that bring a smile, they’re the best in all the land.
Each business has its charm, a unique and clever name,
In the heart of Quirkyville, no two are quite the same.

Had a brilliant time at #SheepDay in #Skipton yesterday! 🐑
I took to the stage twice to perform my sheep rhyme – the very one that became my most-liked poem on X! Dressed for the occasion in sheep ears and a sheep T-shirt, I was definitely one of the flock. Thanks to everyone who came along and joined in the fun! 🐑💜
The Cosmic Rhymer Gets Down and Dirty!
Had great fun last night at @Skiptonsoundbar's Open Mic Night, hosted by the brilliant #MikeBurtoft.
The rhymes I included in my set featured hangovers, music, and the urge to swear!
I was so impressed by the talent on show and proud to share the stage with such fabulous performers. We all supported each other, and this was another example of how friendly #Skipton is.
Watch this space for more performance news!
O radiant Sun, with golden might,
On Solstice day, we seek your light.
Grant us strength and harmony,
As we bask in your majesty.
With golden rays, our spirits lift,
Your warmth a most cherished gift,
Of your power we never tire,
Ignite our dreams, take us higher,
Bless our days with joy and cheer,
As we celebrate the turning of the year,
Your brilliance guiding us ever near,
Chasing shadows and calming fear.
With strength and joy, our days imbued,
Our dreams alight, our hopes renewed.
In gratitude, our voices raise,
To you, O Sun, our songs of praise.

Though my school days are now lost in the midsts of time,
I’d like to dedicate this little rhyme,
To the teachers who taught me more than how to read and write;
Those who made an insecure girl's world at moments seem right.
There was Mrs. Cat who cast me in a starring role,
So affirming for my quite lost soul.
And Mr. Linney who made maths seem okay,
When I’d failed at it twice and lost my way.
Finally, Mr. Remmington was a gent amongst men,
An English teacher who bestowed on me a love of the pen.
So thank you, teachers, I carry your gifts in my heart,
You were heroes, for it was not just facts, but belief, you did impart.

Carer’s week, a time to acknowledge the kindness and care,
Given by those who are always there.
Through sleepless nights and busy days,
They show their love in so many ways.
Through every challenge, great and small,
Carers answer every call.
They give their strength, they share their cheer,
Wiping away each worry and tear.
Unsung heroes in life's challenging tale,
Their spirits strong, they never fail.
So here's to carers, with gratitude deep,
For the promises they faithfully keep.
During National Carers Week, we honour you,
For all the amazing things you do.

By a tranquil canal, my home does rest,
A lovely part of the world; I am truly blessed.
But deep in my soul, a yearning does grow,
For the rush of the river and its steady flow.
As a Cancerian, water calls my name.
It's in my nature, and it’s always been the same.
The flowing water cleanses my soul,
Washing away emotions, making me whole.
The river's journey, relentless and free,
Carries my burdens far away from me.
I know it's heading towards something grand,
The infinite ocean, where dreams expand.
Though I cherish the canal and its peaceful grace,
Every now and then, I seek a new place.
To the sea or a river, I must sometimes flee,
To feel refreshed and truly be me.

A little nail polish for me each day is a must,
And I love the names like ‘Arabesque’ and ‘Stardust.’
In Winter, as ‘Tropical Sunset’ I apply,
I’m transported to a cloudless sky.
When I look at my hands and see ‘Fuchsia Fun,’
I imagine that all my drudge is done.
There’s even a polish called ‘Serendipity,’
That sounds so deep, like the sea.
So if you need a lift, here’s a trick that won’t fail:
Apply a little colour to each nail.
For there’s fun to be had in these pots of pleasure,
‘Champagne Shimmer’ will help us the little things to treasure.

@mrchrishubbard@NetflixUK Ahhh no but as I am watching this I will look out for it now! Brings back happy memories for me of the shopping centre opposite!
Amidst the noise of modern life’s chaos and chatter,
It’s hard to remember that we matter.
We do, though, and I will prove this to you today,
By telling you of a man I encountered along my way.
I met him in a queue and told him how I liked to rhyme;
You could say we were just filling in the time,
As we waited for our coffee to brew. But wait—
He did something that made me feel great:
Recounting how he’d read my rhyme in the local press,
And liked it—and I had to confess,
I glowed with pride; he’d made me smile—
A small act for him, but the joy lasted for me quite a while.
So, today, think of a small thing you can do to spread some joy:
With a compliment or a cake, someone’s spirits you can buoy.
For you really do matter; what you do has such worth.
My friend, for someone, you can be an angel on Earth.

As a girl I read of fairies, magic and elves,
Never knowing my book would grace the library shelves.
Yet there it sits, among the poets, quiet and mine —
A year's life distilled into every line.
So if dreams feel distant, carry on, and be you —
I'm living proof that they can come true.
You can now find my book in Skipton library!

Gather 'round, folks, for a Eurovision delight,
Where nations collide, making spirits bright.
When we ask that "Love Shine a Light", it's a sight to see,
As stars twinkle and shimmer, it’s a great party.
We remember "Making Your Mind Up" and "Puppet on a String",
Praying that this night a result will bring.
Though “Space Man” didn’t deliver,
Round the world it sent a shiver.
As Sam Ryder showed that it’s not about winning,
Through opening his heart, he left the world grinning.
So many years ago a Scottish lass sang,
Giving us a win with “Boom Bang-a-Bang”.
In the ‘70s our hearts were filled with glee,
By a joyful tune: “Save Your Kisses for Me”.
Eurovision, such a friendly fight,
Helps us forget our troubles for just one night.
So let’s support Sam as he sings in tune and loud,
Come on Sam, in Battle do us proud!
