@Worshamr3 @CalPacRenewal My guess is that the act of discipline in a social/religious context is considered conservative by @sfchronicle.

I also suspect any church context is completely foreign to the reporter. Journalists today are often ignorant of religious contexts.

Sounds to me that Glide hasn’t functioned as a UM Church for decades and its clergy, District Superintendents, and Bishops have let this happen.
