There is a very important side story to this Slotkin thing that no one is talking about.
The Trump Administration needs to come out and reassure patriots who want to help their country that if they do so, and these evil Democrats come after them on spurious grounds, that the Trump Administration WILL HAVE THEIR BACKS, both in courts of law and the court of public opinion.
The media is in bed with the Democrats on this--the media will smear anyone the Democrats point them at.
If the Trump Administration does not make this public pronouncement, and then BACK IT UP, they will find ordinary Americans unwilling to help them.
Ordinary Americans have seen the life-destroying lawfare against Trump supporters in the past, and that lawfare has been tremendously effective. In the face of such lawfare and the smears the media will gleefully engage in, too many Americans make the rational choice to not help.
The Trump Admin needs to very publicly and very strongly announce that it has the backs of Americans who raise their right hand.
If enough patriots quote post this with @elonmusk's name perhaps he'll see it, repost it, and this will get the attention it deserves.
Hundreds of millions of Americans need to know about this, not just us randos on X.
To every Democrat reading this. I'm not going to insult you. I'm going to run a simulation.
Start with the odds. The forecasts give your party roughly a 9 in 10 chance of taking the House on November 3rd, and a strong shot at the Senate. So let's assume you win. Here's what happens next.
January 2027. A new majority arrives in Washington with one obsession: the President. Subpoenas, hearings, impeachment talk. Meanwhile, the most important race in human history keeps running in the background. Superintelligence doesn't pause for a news cycle.
Every attempt at one simple national framework for AI dies in committee. The door opens wide for fifty state rulebooks written in Sacramento and Albany. Every startup now needs lawyers before engineers.
2027 to 2028. "Safety" becomes the word that justifies everything. Licenses for models above a certain size. Registries for compute. Mandatory guidelines on what models may and may not say, written by agencies nobody elected. Each rule sounds reasonable on its own. Together, they build a wall.
And here's the part nobody on your side wants to look at: who can climb that wall? Not the kid in Ohio with a laptop. Not the two-person startup in a garage. Only the handful of giants big enough to afford armies of compliance officers and lobbyists. Regulation doesn't kill monopolies. It crowns them.
If the White House follows, the loop closes. A few licensed labs, protected by the state, working hand in hand with agencies that decide what the models are allowed to think. Your search, your news, your doctor, your kid's tutor, your bank, all running on systems whose answers are shaped by a few officials and a few CEOs. Not because anyone is evil. Because that's what always happens when power and intelligence end up in the same hands.
That's not a fairer world. That's 1984 with a hyper-class on top. Not billionaires you can out-compete. A caste you can never join, because the door has been regulated shut.
That's the first branch.
The second branch is the optimistic one. They don't manage to capture it. Gridlock. Two years of hearings and vetoes. Nothing changes very deeply. But think about what "nothing changes" means in the decade where everything is changing. Every year of paralysis is a year where the future gets built somewhere else, by someone else, under someone else's values.
So the best case is lost time. The worst case is a permanent caste.
I know why you vote Democrat. You care about fairness. You hate oligarchy. You fear concentrated power. Good. So do I. That's exactly why I'm asking you to look at this. The most concentrated form of power ever created is about to exist. The only question is whether it stays spread across millions of builders, or gets handed to the state and the few companies it chooses to bless.
I'm writing from France, where the state already decided what we're allowed to build. Our best builders end up in San Francisco. Our politicians end up in committees.
You can still choose. Vote for the side that keeps the door open.
History is watching.
Supposing that God exists, would he punish disbelievers? John Quincy Adams says that a good God would not:
“Any human creature, who seeks the general welfare of the Society he belongs to, does all the good, and as little harm, as is possible, and adheres to what he has been taught from his Infancy to be his duty, can never be exposed to the resentment of a good and wise god, whatever the mode of his worship may be.”
