Maple Valuation Update || 🥞 @maplefinance

Since the conversion of $MPL tokens to $SYRUP, the price action has fallen short of expectations, particularly when compared to Maple's growth.

This is not uncommon, but such events often create panic among some investors, along with liquidity and accessibility issues, among other challenges.

However, we see this as a significant opportunity because Maple's organic growth is undeniable.

For instance, Maple is one of the leading RWA projects in terms of TVL. As an example, $ONDO has only around 15% more TVL than Maple, yet Ondo's valuation is 10 times that of Maple.

Justified ?

For us, there doesn’t seem to be any organic reason to explain such discrepancies.

The most effective way to determine whether an asset is over- or undervalued is by comparing it to peers based on key metrics. That's why we'll use P/TVL multiples, as TVL is undeniably the best metric for comparing RWA projects.

So, what does the comparison reveal?

It becomes clear that @maplefinance appears undervalued compared to the peers median. Specifically, Maple is valued at 0.22 times its TVL, while the conservative median valuation sits at 0.4.

Notably, newer RWA projects like $ONDO, $CFG, $GFI, $CPOOL are valued at a significant premium compared to more mature projects like @aave.

We’ve applied a 15% premium for Maple (see assumptions), which indicates that $SYRUP, under current market conditions, would be fairly valued at around 0.48. This suggests a potential upside of 140%.

To us, it seems like a significant opportunity to capitalize on the challenges surrounding the conversion, as there’s no way Maple remains this undervalued for long.
