This. When both of my children were born, we did not live near family, and my husband worked an extremely taxing TV meteorologist and news anchor schedule.

Basically, he had to be at work at 3 AM which meant he often went to bed around 6 pm. Which meant most of the day and night I was on my own.

And because we were relatively new to both places, I didn’t have friends or even an easy network to ask about babysitters. It took some time to get plugged into churches. So family visited for brief periods, but it was pretty much just me taking care of the baby and th en baby and older daughter.

Was a little overwhelming at times, sure. But never once in any of it did I feel oppressed. And even if I had, I would’ve never harmed my children.

Lindsey Clancy had far more help than most women have. This idea that she is somehow excused because she didn’t have enough support is absolute garbage.

There are some women (and men) who are just sinkholes of attention and help. She was clearly one of them.

If you’re trying to understand, how 11 people on the Lindsay Clancy jury could be so morally blind, let me just point out that Massachusetts is one of the least Christian states in the nation. In the bottom 10.

Only 20% of Massachusetts residents attend a religious service even once a month.

So maybe there’s yet another reason we shouldn’t be so hot on dismantling “cultural Christianity.” Because maybe, even when everyone doesn’t really mean it in their hearts, it still functions to shape society in just and moral directions and keeps us from becoming the sort of people who will excuse the cold and calculated killing of three innocent children by their own mother.

I’m just repeating what a few other women already said out loud:

If Lindsay Clancy walks on this, every woman in a high-stakes job just got a new target on her back.

Female pilot? Cool. Now the first thing people will ask is whether she’s hormonal, postpartum, or one bad night from crashing a plane into a mountain.

Female president? You want the nuclear codes in the hands of someone who can snap and then call it “a psychosis”?

That’s the door this verdict opens. And it won’t close.
If she is not found guilty of murdering those three kids, women don’t get compassion.
We get suspicion. Forever.
Prosecute her as a murderer, or watch one “crazy bitch” torch the credibility of every woman who still has to prove she can be trusted with other people’s lives.
