One definition of Calisthenics is using your own bodyweight as resistance (vs. weights)
So if you aim physical mastery, it is the best way to go!
It is the best way to start training if you’re a beginner, since you learn to master you own body before adding external weights.
REMINDER: Progress is not only measured with sets and reps. You can also:
- Increase range of motion
- Refine technique
- Add static holds
- Add weight
- Change angle, position of body in space
- Increase complexity
- Change pace or decrease rest
- Bend the rules and have fun
