Day 2 of #ScottishDisabilitySportWeek focuses on Overcoming Barriers.
An organisation that is working hard to remove barriers for individuals with disabilities is the Motability Scheme, delivered by @MotabilityOps.
SDS is very proud to be working in partnership with them 💙
Firefighters across the world will be paying close attention to the final Grenfell Inquiry report in September.
The fire was a crime committed by politicians and businesses. This must never be allowed to happen again.
It is our duty to amplify the community's call for justice.
Claire, in #Sheffield: "Someone said maybe it was a false flag thing but at least now they know we won’t stand for any of their shit.
We’ll be here every time. They’ve seen how many people turn out on a Wednesday night with better things to do and work in the morning."
Just a quick one about correct use of Language when referring to scarring...
Call it a scar or a difference, the word DEFORMED isn't very pleasant and insinuates I am half formed/incorrectly formed, I'm not incorrect, just a bit different ☺️
Big love ️❤️
@FaceEquality
It’s now a familiar pattern: a violent attack, innocent people are killed, and X is set alight with unfounded - and often incorrect - accusations about the assailant's identity.
My analysis on social media’s role fanning the flames of Southport riots. https://t.co/O4sEm4wVEo
Mispronunciation is always political, whether politicians are transparent about that or not. It's political even for impartial newscasters. I don't believe (as headline suggests) it's a choice we're conscious of, but it always reveals something about us.

Nigel Farage who attempted 8 times to become an MP, misses the UK's state opening of parliament today
Instead of representing his constituency of Clacton, he's flown half way around the world to attend the Republican convention and grift for Donald Trump
He serves only himself
A friend who waited years where granted asylum after writing to his MP and HO many times. He was able to visit his wife and children after many years in Europe. When his lawyer asked the HO for his file they said oh forget the file we have granted him his refugee status by mistake. So I had to get him a ticket from Germany to stansted the next day and here they didn’t nothing to him at the airport. Now we await the next step from the HO. This is so frustrating and cause huge stress and MH issue he was always struggling with his mental health.
Something absent from this morning’s coverage is how the shameful state of our prisons was a conscious objective of Chris Grayling. He slashed the budget by £1bn, sacked a third of prison officers and boasted that prisons would now be “tough”.
As if. @bbcintroducing will be giving 'Next To You' it's first spin on the radio tonight 🥹 Tune it at 8pm!
We owe @BBCintroEMids & @beatonthebeeb so much for all of their support for this band - love you 🧡
Timpson’s are well-known for employing ex-offenders to help them back into work. They pay their tax. They value their staff. And then there’s this.
CEO James Timpson (who’s also Chair of the Prison Reform Trust) is the new Prisons Minister. Great appointment
Holy shit guys not only were they theoretically able to help frogs recover from Chytrid by providing a gentle hot spot, but they found that the frogs recovered thru heat were potentially resistant to future infections https://t.co/jdWZUUt0Ue
