The African Women Leaders Network (AWLN), the African Union and UN Women in Partnership with Germany will convene a high-level launch on “Women’s Participation in Peace Efforts in Conflict and Crisis Contexts: South Sudan, Sudan and Somalia.”

Held under the theme “Operationalizing the AWLN WPS Pillar in Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia,” the event will mark the launch of a three-country initiative aimed at strengthening women’s leadership and meaningful participation in mediation, peacebuilding and political processes.

The initiative seeks to amplify the voices of women peacebuilders in the 3 countries, connect grassroots priorities with national, regional and international decision-making, and translate Women, Peace and Security commitments into concrete action.
