Thank you, @GovAbbott and @ManoForStateRep, for your time discussing SBISD and public education financing. I explained to our Gov how painful $35M in cuts were to the @SBISD community and how much this community cares about our schools.
SBISD is hiring teachers & other professionals for the 2023-24 school year! Attend our Professional In-Person Meet & Greet on Tuesday, June 6 at Don Coleman Coliseum to speak with principals & representatives from each of our campuses. Register today: https://t.co/kSOpFcAfb4
📢 Contact @GovAbbott & request a Special Session to increase the Basic Allotment.

Now is our last chance to advocate for our elected officials to #fullyfundSBISD! Contact HB 100 Conference Committee members NOW and ask for $1,000 on the Basic Allotment and no ESAs without equal funding and accountability. https://t.co/MmHBLMOfW7

I keep hearing that #txlege is “investing $5B” in pub ed. But in ‘22-23, the state collected $8.2B MORE from recapture districts than they needed and kept it for their general fund. Seems like there is still OUR money available to increase the basic allotment! @GovAbbott
@TeamBettencourt@DanPatrick Now pls fund pub ed and account for inflation in the basic allotment. @SBISD’s options to make up the lack of funding will be ugly- including getting rid of LOHE. That may be a luxury we can’t afford if #txlege doesn’t act. I won’t sacrifice the safety and security of our kids.
Let me get this straight - you are advocating for elected officials to have more control of their jurisdiction's property taxes? Totally agree. Now please return our taxpayers' money and don't collect any more. @TXLege you still have time to be a hero. Florida found a way.
Please join SBISD BOT and advocate for TX children in public education. ALL children are important and deserve an excellent education. We must band together to let our elected representatives know they must fully fund pub ed! @dallasschools@Plano_Schools@CyFairISD@FortBendISD
Again, I petition Senator Bettencourt for continued advocacy on behalf of SBISD constituents for an increase of $1000 to the basic allotment. I have posted specific points of contention to his letter with this post. This is my response and these are my words - not the district's.
Advocacy continues @SBISD! @KPRC2 interview regarding our school funding fight airing at 4pm and 6pm. We will also be discussing our plight at tonight's board meeting so tune in to hear and learn more. Lastly, today's another great day to call conference committee legislators.
Join us to congratulate @SBISD as a Large School District finalist! Each @HEBexcellence finalist in the district, early childhood, and school board category receives $5,000 and winners will be announced on Sunday, April 30. 🍎
Stay tuned! #HEBEducation#HEBExcellence#EIE2023
