Subconsciously convincing himself each time. He is using context one direction, with Ezekiel 16:49. If you read Ezekiel first and look for context because "inhospitable seems like an odd cause for absolute destruction" you would then go back to the account and realize "ohhhh inhospitable "
I don't disagree with the intent of your words, but context goes both ways. Quite often in the context of reading/relying on the Word of God "what does this mean to me" is "How do I apply this(How then should we live" Perhaps instead of "shoulding" people in regards to semantics one could ask for clarity in their wording and then, agree or exhort.
@Atomsmade Would you really? Do you completely refrain from use of that which has been known to cause cancer? Every consumer/user of said resources contributes to the continuation. If you don't do what's in your finite power what makes you believe you would with infinite power?
@hookskat It works in surprising opposite ways as well. Those who practice restraint in person let down their barriers here. Those who virtue signal hear restrain from its practice in real life. I guess an interesting follow up is which version does everyone actually want to be?
@TheExBeliever Do your legs(part of the whole that makes up you) move on their own, or from brain(also part of the whole that makes up you) signals?
Do those legs build muscle from the brain waves, or from the work they put in guided by, but independent of the signals sent?
@TheExBeliever "Argues that" it implies absolute knowledge and understanding to the arguer and man ie "what would man do..." Which then begs the question, if man has incomplete understanding and God complete, is what man would do the absolute correct thing?
According to the biblical account objective morality is the why, not the what. It is unattainable by man with knowledge of self, we'll always seek self. Hence the "Law" in the account, or the subjective consensus of non theist and subsequent societal and civil rules that follow to ensure it's adhered to.
The choice, if not predetermined, is in regards to prohibiting that which is would otherwise end to do so. Not, what would otherwise continue to do so.
Also I'm in no way saying it(end of life care) shouldn't be discussed with as much vigor, just that it is not two sides of the same coin.
@god_wrestle@KristanHawkins But, again at end of life the responsibility and chance to make wishes known for one's self were present. Sure most don't do it till later, but they are afforded the opportunity.
@god_wrestle@KristanHawkins I believe the strategy works in reverse as well. I've already said in another discussion I don't think it should be a political discussion at all.
@Charb_izard@RebeccMcLaugh May I suggest, "...is patient...does not seek it's own..." applies to the manner in which we receive(hear, read, etc) not just the active.
