The #IAC2022 is growing every day! Now a record breaking 9000 delegates from 150 countries with 3000 presentations!!!

Tonight is definitely the biggest event i've been to at IAC... the Young Professional & International Space Uni @ISUnet & @SGAC night! It is packed!!

What skillsets do we need on long term missions e.g. Mars?

A. depends on # of astronauts we have... if we only small # then need to be multiskilled, if have lots of people can have specialists.
Also depends on the skillset e.g. may need a fully trained Medic.

Jay C Buckey explains a funny story where they were doing experiments on Rats in space and lost one. They had to go find it and discovered it had floated up into one of the ducts.

We are about to find out with an amazing panel at #IAC2022 with @BillNye; Patrick Michael from Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS); Betsy CONGDON from John Hopkins Uni; and Bhavya Lal from @NASA

Patrick Michel: How do we predict how we can deflect asteroids or how to take samples? We experiment & study the surface & composition of asteroids!

We model the asteroids and collisions, but can only model what we know. We get data from experiments like Hyabusa Dart & HERA

The mission will be monitored by Telescopes around the world (including Aus) as well as Hubble and JWST.

"Cooperation is key" need to collaborate to ensure we are all on the same page in understanding where satellites are and the risk they pose to us.

This includes the in-space early warning NEOMIR which will detect asteroids quickly!
