Goodmorning everyone ♂️🏁
Meet Barbara Behlau the woman who went beyond anything to help and secure the Simtek team in 1995. Even paying lunch in Monaco 1995 as there was no money for it.
She also kept Ratzenbergers legacy alive. #F1 #RetroF1
Remembering Ferenc Szisz, the winner of the first-ever Grand Prix motor race, who passed away #OnThisDay, 21st February 1944 at the age of 60. A locksmith by trade, Szisz joined Renault as an engineer in 1900. He quickly advanced to the testing department and eventually became a racing driver after initially serving as Louis Renault’s mechanic.
In 1906, Szisz claimed victory at the inaugural French Grand Prix in Le Mans, achieving an average speed of 62.9 mph. After competing in a few other races, he retired in 1909 to open his own garage. During World War I, he served in Algeria, where he contracted typhoid. Later in life, Szisz worked in the aviation industry before retiring to the countryside near Paris.

Michael Schumacher never finished worse than 2nd in 1994, his first championship season 🤯
1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st, DSQ, DNF, 1st, DSQ, SUSP, SUSP, 1st, 2nd, DNF.
His 1.20 avg finishing position in 1994 still holds as the best since 1960.
Only one for today sorry!
What many forget is that Ricardo Rosset had a moment during the 3rd Free Practice of the 1997 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park.
He spun and hit the wall with the nose of the Lola T97/30. #F1#RetroF1
Here's some analysis of the @visacashapprb as seen at its shakedown yesterday.
The car's very different to the launch render and features some well resolved aero ideas.

Erich Zakowski with his creation for 1989 the beautiful Zakspeed 891.
Sadly this would be the last season for Zakspeed in the Formula One. While they came really close to return to the F1 in the late 1990s. #F1#RetroF1

For technical freaks!
The front steering Tie Rod End was designed to be on the middle of the upright. Big mistake because when the car starts rolling into the corner it get under tension and it prevents against rolling. Meaning it works like a progressive stiffening anti rollbar the more roll/higher cornering is happening. Resulting high steering forces and huge under steering

Remembering a very special female racer today, Maria Teresa de Filippis.
Born #OnThisDay 11 November 1926, de Filippis was an Italian racing driver who made F1 history as the first female F1 driver to compete in Formula One, breaking barriers in a male-dominated sport, debuting in 1958.
Her first Formula One entry was at the 1958 Monaco Grand Prix, though she failed to qualify. She made her official start later that year at the 1958 Belgian Grand Prix, where she finished in 10th place, cementing her legacy as a trailblazer in motorsport.
Her time in the sport was met with resistance; she was infamously barred from racing in the French Grand Prix, with the race director reportedly telling her, “The only helmet a woman should wear is the one at the hairdresser’s.” Despite competing in a handful of other races, engine failures and discrimination tainted the remainder of her F1 career.
Following the tragic death of fellow driver Jean Behra in 1959, De Filippis retired from racing, stating she had lost too many friends in the sport. It wasn’t until 1979 that she returned to the motorsport world, joining the International Club of Former F1 Grand Prix Drivers, eventually becoming Vice-President in 1997.
De Filippis passed away in Scanzorosciate, Lombardy, on January 8 2016, leaving behind an inspiring legacy for women in racing.
