I really want to show off the cutting edge tech the team is building and how we're turning AI image generation into real living environments using gaussian splats and at the :19 mark of this video you can see how we're blending splats together to create a real world.
What this looks like from a gaming perspective is this all happens behind the players view to simulate a real world environment. As you move through the space, distance becomes a variable to consider on how images update and are experienced.
We are creating a new reality in real time.
🚀 I'm launching r3f-webgpu-perf today!
"npm i r3f-webgpu-perf"
One thing I missed while working with WebGPU in React Three Fiber was a performance monitor similar to r3f-perf. The existing tool is fantastic, but it doesn’t support the WebGPU renderer yet.
So I decided to build one.
✅ Supports both WebGL and WebGPU
✅ Modern and customizable UI
✅ Lightweight and easy to integrate
✅ Built specifically for React Three Fiber
My goal is to turn r3f-webgpu-perf into more than just a metrics dashboard. I want it to become a learning tool that provides real-time optimization suggestions based on the techniques I’ve developed while building hundreds of interactive 3D projects over the last two decades. A vanilla Three.js version is also planned.
If you’re building with Three.js, React Three Fiber, or WebGPU, I’d love for you to try it and share your feedback.

octopuses love crevices, so I built him a little home he looks happy now!
in the thread how I vibe-coded the softbody collisions 🧵:

Added third-person controls to my octopus scene, here you see me controlling him with WASD, it suddently feels alive!
The third person controls were litterally one prompt in @omma_ai, I guess because they're popular. The fiddly part was the walking animation, as you can see from the debug I had to select the tentacle tips and give them a procedural animation based on what I later discovered to be called metachronal waves. 🐙

Claude Fable 5 (max), Minecraft in HTML test
Really, really good result, it even added background music
I don’t know the exact cost, but it was around $30
Some fun examples, I just gave basic prompts and the AI executed:

my friend at anthropic just asked me what color dog collar i wanted . i asked them “what the hell” and they insinuated that after the IPO everyone will be “owned” by some frontier lab employee . and would i prefer an oai owner ? i said green
Working on @playcanvas style LODs for gaussian splats in my VRChat plugin. I really want to get 100M scale splats working in VRC, but the constraints are quite intimidating.
Everything needs to be inside frag+vert shaders for performance. Udon# is too slow.
@koltregaskes And a human reviewer who reviews that could be the number one thing that slows it down, and it will be a competition between who's machines automate faster then the other with the least limits. Especially if we cannot resolve our differences between China.
@koltregaskes Eventually there will come a point where that will be a line that will need to be crossed because the ai can automate and dream infinitely more efficiently then a human mind can conceive of. Ideas by machines alone could absolutely be the most important discoveries to ever exist
@Angaisb_ ye there's a definetily right and wrong way to using these harnasses. Start new models, keep context under 250k, be super specific when using /goal. It explains why some users have their usage evaporated while others are doing fine.
I have an AGI wishlist in which I will spend a massive amount of money guiding millions of agents to build future games and experiences.
Some of those things on that list:
• An Autonomous Historical Counterfactual Engine / Computational Anthropology Environments
• Personal agentic Planetary Ecosystem Simulation
• Battlefront 3
• GTA 7
