I had multiple SIM cards before I had any certification.
Not for what you're thinking. For midnight data.
There was a boy in Iyesi, Sango Otta, who couldn't afford to be online during the day. So I stacked MTN SIMs and waited for midnight bundles. While most people slept, I was downloading courses, watching tutorials, breaking things and fixing them, teaching myself cybersecurity one cheap-data night at a time. By morning the bundle was gone, and I'd be counting down to the next midnight.
Nobody handed me a roadmap. No mentor, no paid bootcamp, no budget for certifications. Just curiosity, a laptop, and a stubborn belief that where I was from didn't have to decide where I was going.
Fast forward, I now work in cybersecurity, and I founded @CyberProwess: a community built for the exact person I used to be.
And now we're opening the doors.
🚀 The @CyberProwess July Cohort is here.
This is for the ones learning on borrowed Wi-Fi and midnight bundles. The ones with the mind for this field but not the money for courses that cost more than their family earns in months. No fancy budget required, just bring the curiosity and the stubbornness. We'll handle the roadmap I never had.
What you get:
✅ Structured cybersecurity training from the ground up
✅ Mentorship and a community that actually answers your questions
✅ Hands-on practice, not just theory
✅ Certificate of Completion
The boy who waited for midnight grew up. Now he's making sure the next one doesn't have to wait alone.
📅 Cohort starts July 2026

If an attacker comes for your platform today, will it survive?
Most startups don’t realize how fragile their defenses are until it’s too late.
Let’s run through a quick self-check you can do right now:
1️⃣ When last did you run a penetration test?
2️⃣ Is MFA enforced on all accounts (including admins)?
3️⃣ Are your APIs rate-limited and monitored?
4️⃣ Do you have an incident response plan that actually works?
If you answered “No” to 2 or more… you’re overdue for a security assessment.

🌐 My Cybersecurity Journey So Far...
Hey, I’m Sammie
Over the past months, I’ve been building a strong foundation in cybersecurity through Cisco courses.
Here’s everything I’ve learned so far...

Logs in cybersecurity are record system, app, and network activity. Examples include login attempts, file access, and firewall blocks. Types: system, app, security, firewall/network, and audit logs.
Why logs matter: detect threats, trace attacks and ensure compliance.
Mosh —server=“sudo /usr/bin/mosh-server” localhost. Thus command gave us root access and we were able to find the root.txt file which contained our second flag. This was how we pwn the box. My team and I. I’m thankful again to @CyberProwess for this.
So being in @CyberProwess prowess has been a great learning experience honestly I will not lie. I have gained so much experience in my time here. So we were grouped into teams last week to work on a task. Coming to gather to collaborate was very endearing.
The highlight of that week was a practical session in the Wifi Hacking 101 room on TryHackMe, where we applied the theoretical knowledge we gained. We cracked the password in an attached capture provided. It was an exciting and informative week, full of hands-on learning.
Update on Week 5 @CyberProwess Training
In that module, we delved deep into exploiting both wired and wireless networks. For wireless networks, we explored various attacks and vulnerabilities including password spraying, war driving, Evil Twin attacks, signal jamming,
