@stphnmaher I've observed that "the police love a police state."
Not so much for the people living in one.
So I am suspicious of the motives of anyone who is pro-"police state".
Also couldn't USA try spending some prison budget on welfare to prevent the whole "poverty causes crime" thing?
@stphnmaher It's long past time that men's asses got some recognition.
For too long men's asses have been the elephant in the room, magnificent, beautiful, can't look away, but nobody says a word.
Too bad the spokesman for this had to be Mr Mushy Brain.

@stphnmaher I'm a bigger fan of offshore windfarms than the ones that are placed in populated locations onshore that destroy economic value of scenic natural-landscape.
But what is that offshore wind energy going to be used for?
Is a data centre the best use?
It is a good question.

@stphnmaher Isn't Corb Lund's the person who's anti-coal-mining pollution referendum wasn't permitted to be on the referendum through some creative rules-changing/goal-post moving by the Alberta gov't?
Anyway, Iove his five-dollar bill song and the one about bootlegging is pretty good too.
@stphnmaher@6lennybravo@mattwing1973 I well known in my teenage group for attempting long jumps on my Ski-Doo off of snow drifts.
At the time you could get a snowmobile driving licence at age 14. 🫣

@stphnmaher Reading Peter C. Newman's Sam Bronfman bio which says Sam really wanted to be a Senator so he donated, donated, and donated some more.
He didn't get into the senate (wasp deep state prevented that from happening, Newman says), but 4 cabinet ministers came to his 80th b-day party!
@ricky_clay@stphnmaher I know people who find themselves in a pretty good situation, maybe in the best situation imaginable, but they still aren't happy bc they just don't want to be happy bc they are selfish whiners.
Source: 60 years of listening to them whine.
@stphnmaher like ADQ's Mario Dumont & PQ relics from decades past, a couple of notable Caqistes will be recycled into Quebecor oped writers, whining relentlessly about Canada and how dirty* Montreal is for the next couple of decades.
*"dirty" being the secret code word for immigrants.
@stphnmaher As I've said before, what we've witnessed is a pirate takeover of the US government.
Maybe you can negotiate with pirates, give them what they want today, but it's still ultimately going to be pirate law, until the day people finally rebel against it or the pirates self-destruct.
@stphnmaher Quebec's long-running reality show "Ethnic nationalists finding new ways to remove human rights from culturo-linguistic minorities."
2026 is the 50th anniversary season.🥂
Still popular as ever, if recent polls are an indication.
@stphnmaher Canada's aluminium industry was started by Alcoa: the Aluminum Company of America because using cheap Québec hydro-electricity meant lower prices for their customers and more profit for the shareholders.
Win-win-win situation.

@npunwani@WSJ@AbdulElSayed@DemSocialists I read your letter today.
You make an interesting point.
And yet...
Québec residents will live 5 years longer than Michigan residents.
