The Earth's day — that is, one full rotation — defines our 24-hour cycle. But if it were to slow down just a bit more, it could become 25 hours. This isn't science fiction. It's already happening, just very, very slowly. Earth’s rotation is decelerating due to tidal friction — by about 1.7 milliseconds per century.
