The Dr. Anne Merriman Fund for Uganda is more than a financing tool; it is a collaboration platform. This explains how the fund can unite hospices, government, and donors around a shared mission of compassionate care.
Health partnerships become stronger when they are guided by clear goals and mutual respect. This shows how PCAU and HOW are working together to improve access, raise standards, and protect the legacy of palliative care leadership.

Uganda has made important progress in palliative care, yet many people still do not understand its true value.
Dr. Anne Merriman changed the face of palliative care in Uganda by introducing affordable oral morphine and building lasting institutions. We celebrate her vision, leadership, and compassion while encouraging the public to protect and expand her legacy.
This morning, @KawempeCare has recieved a team of Ireland that will donate ambulance that will facilitate the movement to and from the centre to @MulagoReferral@UgandaCancerIns for treatment.

Today, the Palliative Care Association of Uganda (PCAU) Team, together with our partners from #HopeonWheels Ireland, visited @KawempeCare – New Hope Children's Hostel, one of the beneficiaries of the ambulance donation initiative under the Dr. Anne Merriman Fund for Uganda (DAMFU).
Kawempe Home Care continues to provide compassionate palliative care services to children and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Through the New Hope Children's Hostel, children accessing cancer treatment and specialized care receive accommodation, psychosocial support, and a nurturing environment that promotes dignity and hope during challenging times.

@NutritionistKD Beyond treatment, the centre also provides daily meals to more than 70 people, ensuring that vulnerable patients and families receive both medical and social support.
Dr. Anne Merriman planted the seed of palliative care in Uganda. Palliative care is about ensuring that seed continues to grow for generations.
